Remember in 2000 when Al Gore was repeatedly misquoted as having said he invented the internet and that was seen the eyes of many as disqualifying him from office? Simpler times. Today, Trump makes up lies equivalent to "I invented the internet" 30 times a week and no one bats an eye. Good job media

The White House’s new anti-media website includes denunciations of:

-ABC, which bribed the president
-CBS, which bribed the president and moved away from fact-based journalism trying to appeal to him and his fans
-WaPo, which spiked a Harris endorsement and tilts coverage in Trump’s favor

Today is the anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Not only did the law literally open doors to countless students with disabilities (myself included), it also had the unintended consequence of creating the moral panic around an autism "epidemic." 🧵 1/

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

We’re closely monitoring the situation, and we will keep working with our partners in government to ensure that New Yorkers know their rights, including those arrested today.

This is also why it was mostly women who supported male victims. Men want to identify with power, not people they view as weak, powerless, dominated. So they're silent on male victims - unless or until they can use them to dominate & silence women.

I’m gonna draw a controversial conclusion from this, but it’s one I don’t think is actually wrong.

The reason “cancellation” for sex pest reasons actually boosts careers is that a majority of men identify sympathetically with these men.

I think a majority of men have violated women’s boundaries.
Years ago, my colleagues at Business Insider and I tracked YouTuber “cancellation” arcs. What we found is that for many entertainers, “cancellation” actually sets the stage for a redemption arc, one that can raise their profile higher than ever. It wasn’t career-ending. It was fuel.

In the United States, we have the largest billionaire class in the world. At the same time, 40% of our population—including no less than 49% of our children—are poor or low-income.

Please try to avoid getting mad at an autistic kid or adult or telling them they’re being rude if they ask for clarification of imprecise requests or instructions like, “I just need a few minutes,” or “clean up your room,” especially if you haven't given exact criteria or specific guidelines. 10/

So what’s going on is that the federal government is running a massive domestic spying operation and getting local cops to do their dirty work once a car is stopped. They call this siloing of data “walling” it off from their true source.

Our parents weren’t boomers – they were too old to be boomers – but they nonetheless had a lot to do and not a lot of time for children. It wasn’t solipsism, it was meeting the reality that one salary alone wasn’t going to do the job of maintaining a family anymore.
