11yo’s fever broke & he helped us buy a Christmas tree. But since he put himself to bed at 8:15 on a Saturday night I’m pretty sure he’s still feeling lousy. I found him asleep on a pile of Squishmellows and managed to get him tucked in. I see another 2am fever in my future.

Journalists and media: stop bothsidesing attacks on childhood vaccines. We look to you to report what is happening and what the effects will be, not repeat the administration’s rhetoric. The effects will be more sickness and more death. That is not something to bothsides. Hold power accountable.

Karoline Leavitt: “You’re either a U.S. citizen or not — You can’t be a U.S. citizen & a citizen of another country”

The Supreme Court thought differently as it ruled in 1967 that the government can’t strip U.S. citizenship unless a person voluntarily relinquishes it - not that they care

Anyone who tries to reboot Casablanca can go straight to hell without passing go. They’ve already collected their $200 but they should cower in shame for even thinking about it. You don’t reboot perfection.
This shit’s gonna show up on Netflix in January www.imdb.com/title/tt0084...

we live in this bizarre time where “being racist” is, by the rules of discourse, Bad

but the act of being racist is now acceptable, apparently, and so the press bends into a pretzel to avoid calling open racism racist because describing it accurately would be “picking a side”
Here's a better headline for Axios: "How Trump has normalized racism and racist slurs." Why can't some journalists just call a thing what it is? https://loom.ly/hiKWr58
How Trump flipped America's race conversation
Language that once was disqualifying is now a fixture of national political discourse.

This is how my local paper in the swing state of Nevada covered it: Huge picture, AP story with nary a hint that this was weird or corrupt.

As low as Trump’s approval ratings are, they’d be much lower if he didn’t have the help of large swaths of the media

11yo was up at 2am with a 101.8 fever that never really broke even with Tylenol. 9am it was 101.1 - switched to Motrin. Finally down to 99.5. Gonna be a long weekend and not in a fun way.

Bill Cassidy should resign his seat in disgrace and be forced to give up his medical license.

once again, "the supreme court will act as a bunch of partisan republican hacks" is the single most accurate heuristic for predicting its behavior, putting any coherent legal theory to shame

because fuck you, that's why
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

That last point. Cassidy really has enormous leverage if he wants to use it. He would win this fight. Worst case is he winds up losing a primary and spends his 70s (he's 68 now) as a hero to millions. He'll likely never have as much influence over anything again as he has over this right now.
ACIP may end universal Hep B vaccination today.

Hep B prevention is Cassidy's passion, as he made clear during RFK Jr's confirmation hearings.

But let's not forget... his vote to confirm RFK Jr. got us into this mess!

He needs to use every lever of power he has in the Senate to fix it.

The President of the United States is trying to throw Mark Kelly in prison and Mark Kelly's response is to confirm judges who have committed to putting him in prison
11 Senate Democrats just voted to advance the nomination of a Federal Society judge who used to defend banks and payday lenders:

Durbin
Gallego
Hassan
Hirono
Kaine
Kelly
King
Klobuchar
Reed

This man may be the most racist president this country has ever had, and twelve presidents owned slaves
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

This is really important. Both in the fact of IMLS reinstating grants. (Which have been *crucial* for libraries and civic life across the country. Notably in rural areas.)

And in the example that the overall stalwartness and rigor of federal district/circuit courts has made a huge difference.
IMLS announces "upon further review" that it is reinstating all federal grants to libraries. It leaves out that it's doing this because a federal court told them a few weeks ago that the Trump admin's decision to destroy libraries was not legal.
