Good morning.

A regular reminder: a tiny few hoard staggering wealth and own much of the media, while millions struggle to survive.

That’s not an accident. It’s a choice made by those in power.

Tax wealth. Fund public services. Build an economy for everyone - not the 1%.

#Helsinki achieved zero road deaths in a year—without autonomous vehicles on its streets.

They did it through road diets, car-free zones, and 30 km/h speed limits.

Not by flooding the streets with robotaxis. (Waymo isn't allowed in #Finland.)

To really save lives...

Violence is too often sloppy; it spills over. Misogynists kill a lot of men, racists kill white people, ICE in its attacks on immigrants and anyone who looks like them just killed a white US citizen. When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail; when you're a gun everyone is a target.

As homes fill with new gadgets this festive season, it’s worth remembering what happens to the old ones.

Phones, fridges or laptops don’t just disappear. The 🌎 generates 62M tonnes of e-waste every year.

And while they pour money into protecting their image, we’re landed with the climate bill. See through the spin. Demand real action ✊⁣

@joellightbound.bsky.social How about this for Canada Post? Trucks are still needed for some areas of course, but there's a lot of city distances that could be better covered by micro electric vehicles -- including e-cargo bikes. Yes, even in Canadian winters.
⚡📮Nice work @royal-mail.bsky.social, who have just announced the launch of a new fleet of over 100 micro electric vehicles, replacing 52 vans.

Better for the climate and for deliveries. This is exactly the kind of move we need to see for cities free of diesel vans!

Yes, this is correct. And the reason is because our capitalist classes have decided that it is not sufficiently profitable, so they're not going to do it.

We must understand this reality. Capital *cannot* be relied upon to address the climate crisis.

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people.

Sound efficient?
