Three years ago, Polk County residents expressed weariness of new shelters in their towns. Familiar accusations and fear-mongering arguments arose. But their concerns never materialized. Now, some of the same critics who opposed the shelters say they have no problem with their new neighbors.

This is the second time an ICE employee has been arrested in in a Bloomington, MN underage sex trafficking sting www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/ne...
Police in Bloomington, MN just announced that one of the guys they arrested in an underage sex trafficking sting was a **background checker for ICE agents.**

He had a high security clearance in the Trump administration... and he was caught trying to abuse children. Sickening.

The United States is purposefully blockading Cuba from accessing fuel that powers everything from grocery stores to hospitals. People will die. Children will die. What's being done to the people of Cuba is monstrous.

The people in power were ok with it in Gaza and now they're doing it to Cuba.

No, AI Written Romance Novels Are Not Inevitable
The New York Times interviewed two authors who claim AI is the future of romance novels, who coincidentally also sell courses about how to use AI to write romance novels.

When a sitting representative refers to the Super Bowl halftime show as “pornography,” people should use that to reflect on how they and other representatives are simultaneously working to ban, censor, and restrict “pornography” and what that actually means

Our friends over at @bywayofplymouth.bsky.social got a permanent account ban, presumably for doxing fascists.

They’ve appealed, but it looks like Bluesky is not really a safe place for antifascist researchers who expose fascists.

This is the 38th time that the U.S. military has unlawfully killed civilians on the orders of Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump. At least 130 people — never charged with crimes, their identities unknown to their executioners — are now dead.

I hear from people who are surprised I'm still talking about ICE, they thought they'd withdrawn from MN.

No, they have not. In some respects they've escalated.

Some asked why MN is a target. Are there are there a lot more illegals or criminals here?

No, it's not about that. It's about a grudge.

Rape is and always has been a tool of war and this includes Trump’s war on immigrants. I have seen too many stories — but not enough conversation — about the widespread sexual assault perpetrated by federal agents.

Stopping ICE is rape prevention. My latest: ruthzakarin.substack.com/p/sexual-ass...

One of the most miserable things about living in this era is having to watch the stupidest & most arrogant people in the world have to relearn The Why of literally everything good that we collectively do the hard way.

The answer is always ‘Because a bunch of people died, fuckwit.’

I think collectively, we at least partially wanted the child at the Super Bowl to be Liam because the little boy on stage looked happy and healthy and our hearts want so badly to think these children can somehow magically recover from the evils our government is doing.
Super Bowl viewers Sunday speculated that 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos appeared in the halftime show. In fact, he has been in hiding with his family.

“He can’t sleep well at night. He wakes up three or four times a night screaming, ‘Daddy, Daddy,’” Liam's father Adrian Conejo Arias, said.

The US cutting off oil to Cuba is truly one of the most depraved acts it is possible to imagine. Hospitals will close, food production will collapse, people will starve. It is urgent for US citizens, and every sane person, to oppose this barbarism with all their might.

Hi Tomhoman, thanks for the thoughtful suggestion that we locals in MN end the resistance.

We’ve considered it and would like to make a counteroffer. To wit:

1) No
2) Never
3) Fuck you
4) You, Bovino, Noem, etc go to prison for decades.

Sound good? Great. Here’s $50k in a takeout bag.
