WA has set Vehicle Miles Travelled reduction goals. To achieve that two things need to happen:
1. Transit/ safe ped access must have priority
2. Driving, parking, cost of gas, insurance all must be a little bit worse (harder, slower, more expensive)

Mode shift can’t be all carrot and no stick.
Why are we assuming that we want to maintain car volumes? To meet our climate, public health and road safety goals as a city, there is no reason any on or off ramp in #Seattle should require multiple lanes. #Rainier

Our home was hit hard by an arts and craft explosion.

The cause was linked no school due to parent/ teacher conferences and working parents.

The main casualties are the dining table with black marker stains, many items now coated with glitter and every flat surface is holding art drying.

Sounds funny today, but not long ago, the use of bicycles by women was considered *extremely* radical & dangerous--to be discouraged, even by supporters of women's right to vote.
All bc bicycles allowed women a tiny bit of freedom & mobility, without needing things a male guardian could withhold.
Suffragist and educator Frances Willard riding her bicycle, Gladys (because it made her glad).

“I learned to bicycle when 50... and I think it is one of the best things I ever did. What pleases me is to see other worn-out women take it up, and find a new lease of health and life thereby."

There has literally never been a universal basic income trial program that didn't deliver real and measurable results above and beyond any other form of social welfare, and every time another concludes with the same findings the powers that be go "interesting! Anyway," and pretend it wouldn't work.

This holiday giving season, I am going to art markets to support real humans who make things! I give gifts that can make everyday life a little more joyful: beautiful bars of soap, spice blends, candles. I’m also hoping to make some bath bombs, homemade Bailey’s and ornaments.

Who is with me?

For the record I owe an ex-girlfriend a sincere apology: women’s sports ARE an important part of the feminist movement. I was just an art nerd back then and resented the appreciation sports people got over weird art kids.

This bus driver has amazing color commentary on the commute home today. Truly, it is the perfect amount of annoyance at people inappropriately using the HOV lane and not getting out of the way of an ambulance.

In my dream last night I invented a new ferry route between Whidbey Island and the San Juans. I woke up so excited. Also in my dream Orcas island had a new on-demand shuttle to help you get to Moran State park and Doe Bay without the grueling bike ride.

School buses are amazing.

School bus drivers are amazing! They put up with so much noise and manage chaos.

Car dependency is bad for car drivers, too.
Bottom line: even if you don't believe in climate change, don't care about people who can't afford cars, and will never personally take the bus, *you benefit* from your federal tax dollars going to transit. We figured this out during the flipping Reagan administration, and it is wild to deny it now.

This is completely insane and abhorrent.

People will suffer. People will die.
Women who get an abortion and anyone who helps them could face up to 30 years in prison under the bill.

It appears to ban any contraception that prevents a fertilized egg from implanting. That would ban IUDs and could strictly limit in-vitro fertilization.
Women Who Have Abortions Would Face Decades in Prison Under South Carolina Plan
Women who get abortions could spend decades in prison and IUDs would be outlawed under proposed legislation in South Carolina.
