It’s very ironic that for the last five or years people have been very vocal telling me over & over again that doing any research with the “founders” is useless & irrelevant, but now those same people are constantly quoting & referencing those men to criticize the current administration.

NEW: Data on Russian forces’ rate of advance indicates that a Russian military victory in Ukraine is not inevitable, and a rapid Russian seizure of the rest of Donetsk Oblast is not imminent. Russian advances elsewhere on the frontline have been opportunistic and exploited seasonal weather. ⬇️🧵

In an interview with Stephanie Wong, Seth Rockman discusses his new book, “Plantation Goods,” and the overlooked economic ties that bound the North and South before the Civil War.

Mike Johnson -- who is, yes, theoretically a lawyer -- has not had a chance to look at the American Constitution because he's been very busy lately, folks, he just can't see everything, gosh, how is he supposed to know if it's wrong that the president called for the execution of congress members?
Mike Johnson on Trump calling for Democrats to be executed: "Attorneys have to parse the language and determine all that."

Update: because I have to focus most of my time tackling dissertation edits all of winter break I will not be able to watch/post about the Ken Burn's documentary on the American Rev for a while. When I do and I get to Franklin and France, I'll let you guys know my thoughts on it.

I can finally share some good news: I was reached out to by a DAR chapter about sources and a letter supporting their language for a plaque dedicated to Madame Brillon for their 250th anniversary celebration! #girlboss #womeninhistory #brillon #250thanniversary

New goal for my dissertation is to finish final edits for chapters 1-3 along with a more full draft of chapter 4 by the end of Thanksgiving break. I think since I'm getting started now that I might even be able to get the rest of chapter five expanded as well.

I mean, it did break the geo-political status quo in North America….
Maybe, the 7YW is actually the more important 18th century conflict?

I will see myself out.
I agree. My students don’t understand why the Stamp Act is important without discussing the SYW specifically because narrative wise it doesn’t make sense to them why England suddenly comes in trying to reassert control and pushes hard on the issue on taxes.
