Genuine question: for those enthusiastically pushing AI tools into every part of our education system—what checks/guardrails are there around algorithmic biases like this?
The administration “is currently pressuring OpenAI and other AI companies to make their models more conservative-friendly.”
OpenAI is trying to clamp down on ‘bias’ in ChatGPT
GPT-5 is better at resisting liberal ‘pressure,’ the company says.

I’m really struggling to even see what point Ed thinks he’s making - cycle lanes caused the housing crisis? Traffic jams lower property prices? Or are cargo bikes the new avocado toast- if we spent less money on them we’d have enough for housing?
I love the Boss, seen him live more than once, but no-one has every accused him or his fans of being 'cool'!

I say this with the bluntness it requires: they will get people murdered if this continues. This is not just populism anymore either: it’s completely unhinged and a deliberate choice that does endanger lives. I am not saying this lightly at all.
Some great suggestions in this thread, particularly for those looking to help @booksupstairs.bsky.social with a purchase after their recent misfortune...
Starting a thread about the books I’ve read in 2025, focusing on novels

the EU parliament is looking for a native-level irish speaker for a press officer traineeship, starting next march

it's paid (€1660/month, no tax) and is a pretty sweet opportunity to see how the EU sausage is made, and a chance to try brussels (if you're not already here)

deadline end of october!

Some people really understand what is happening in the United States.

You may think it unimaginable but what we are witnessing is the consolidation of a Fascist dictatorship that is weaponising the military against the American people.
I hope it's clear to everyone now that Trump really is going for it - he's trying to become a dictator. I don't know if he'll succeed, but he's working to install himself as an autocrat unaccountable to voters. And he's weaponizing the military against Americans who oppose him as part of that effort

this is as clear a declaration of war on democracy, pluralism, and rule of law as you are likely to find in history
Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. This is gonna be a major part for some people in this room. That's a war too. It's war from within"

Aside from all else, this makes zero sense when you're talking about losing a popularity contest! Her not being liked enough IS the point.

A diehard communist would also never get the nom, so would Pat say this the far left being "excluded from public life" or does it simply reflect the electorate?
This piece opens with "It’s hard to escape the conclusion that Maria Steen should really be on the ballot paper for the presidential election"

It goes on to say "There is a danger that we are moving towards a situation where anyone who holds socially conservative views is excluded from public life"

The former leader of Reform in Wales, Nathan Gill, has been convicted of taking bribes from Oleg Voloshyn to promote the interests of Putin - the leader Farage said he most admires.

Here’s Farage with Voloshyn’s wife.

If Gill had been a close associate of Jeremy Corbyn this might be bigger news.
