#OtD 29 Nov 1947 the UN passed resolution 181 recommending partition of Palestine into Jewish and Arab states. Approved by the US, USSR and others, it gave 56% of land to the Jewish state despite Jews being only 32% of the population. More in our podcast: workingclasshistory.com/podcast/e86-...

This OKC team really plays by different rules. It’s wild to listen to the commentators too. Rudy’s graze on Hartenstein was a flagrant, but Caruso literally jumping on top of Anthony Edwards is a “1990s style foul”

I’m tired.

Peter Weir, Russell Crowe, and Paul Bettany are condemned to live the rest of their lives on the HMS Surprise and release a new Master & Commander movie every year
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

There’s no nice way to say this: promoting anti-vax bullshit while kids are dying of vaccine preventable illnesses is tantamount to murder, and should be treated as such in the media and the courts.

it's important to understand that i don't actually care if the benoit blanc movies are good. lots of the columbo movies aren't "good" either. they're still good.

My favorite Golden Age of Twitter arguments were when people would get mad at the Pope for not reading the Bible
I miss when Twitter was truly great like the time a guy got upset at someone calling out a cricket team and started explaining how bowling worked and at the end OP was like "thanks for explaining btw I hold the world record for most career outs in cricket history"

Since it's JFK Assassination Discourse time on the 'sky, my 2 cents is that Oswald acted alone, and the FBI also planted evidence because that's what they did in the 60s, except this time people were paying attention.

But the JFK Assassination is two years from retirement. I think we can let it go.

One person's "bridge to nowhere" is another person's "only reliable access to the mainland"
Back in the New Deal, the WPA had programs that paid people to teach folk arts to kids. I think this is a good thing, but the corporate/RW media took one of the folk arts and made it a slur for government programs. Bring back boondoggles!
maybe we also try to own the word "boondoggle", lol. The term got big because of WPA programs that paid people to teach folk arts, like making a "boondoggle". The corporate press made it synonymous for waste, but imo: paying someone to teach folk arts is an eminently fine use of public money!
