This is a hugely important story. I wrote about its consequences already in "Road to Unfreedom" and we know much more now. If we want to be a democracy we have to create structures of factuality rather than selling our future to the loudest yeller in another country.
Although the scale of this is still to be assessed, this is the inevitable outcome of the monetization of the algorithm. Rage-bait becomes a personal revenue model. Nothing about this should be a surprise.
NEWS: I spent the past 24 hours going through major MAGA accounts on Twitter, and a bombshell development has become clear: most of the right-wing ecosphere is being fed propaganda from foreign actors.

This impacts elections. This impacts discourse. This is major. Subscribe to support my work:

A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

Then there's the second decision: how you judge others. If being gentlemanly means anything at all, it should mean what Newman wrote above: "interpret everything for the best." Or what Lewis wrote in Mere Christianity: "A real desire to believe all the good you can of others ...

This is a story about how America’s world-leading cancer and dementia research system was destroyed by frauds and naifs who broke the law.

There must be consequences.
Some incredible details in this piece
*one DOGE faction was planning the future of the US government at a venture capital firm
*illegally communicating on Signal to avoid transparency laws was deeply embedded into organizational culture to be taken for granted

Cassidy channeling the classic Simpsons episode where Homer accidentally invents tomacco and gets people addicted to it, and when Lisa confronts him about the harm he's causing he responds with "I know honey, but what can *I* do as an individual?"
Bill Cassidy has done infinitely more for the antivaccine movement than he can ever claim he has done to promote vaccination. He is one of the worst antivaxxers to ever live.
With all my heart, fuck this guy.

This is…brilliant.
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

Not a footprint, not a hope
A kingdom of isolation
And it looks like I'm the pope

The wind is howling
like this swirling storm inside
Couldn't keep it in
heaven knows I tried

This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

This is why this story needs to be taken seriously.

I have found it very entertaining and had my share of laughs at these gross and foolish people, but their seedy secrets - and their lack of ethics - have resulted in real harm at an untold scale.
Children are dying because of RFK Jr being Secretary of Health and Human Services. And this amoral fuckup (R Lizza, 51) knew a 'journalist' (Nuzzi, 32) he was fucking was running a catch-and-kill operation for political candidate RFK?

Even when you know the system is corrupt....

everyone's talking about how bright and charming zohran must be, which is true, but then you remember the spider-brained cryptkeepers trump's surrounded himself with since '15 and realize a single smile from mamdani must have hit like barbecue spare ribs down the gullet of a 12th century peasant.

I served as our Ambassador in Ukraine for 3 years under Putin’s missiles and drones but resigned when Trump kept appeasing Putin. America does not bow to dictators. It’s not who we are.

Here's why this Trump-Putin so-called "peace plan" is a disaster:

She paid them back at the time.

Now, Trump is saying Democratic members of Congress should be hanged.

We should get serious about sanctions. Russian missiles that kill Ukrainian civilians contain parts made in the West. And this repeated mass murder of civilians by Moscow should bring total boycotts on Russian gas and oil. And the Ukrainians should get everything they need to defend themselves
16 people were killed and 49 injured after russia’s strike on Ternopil. Missiles and drones hit 2 residential buildings and damaged an industrial facility. Rescue workers are still clearing the rubble. u24.gov.ua/nafo-dark-ni...
