University education empowers and refines people's critical thinking skills. So its natural that reactionary opinion & reactionary power centres despise universities and are highly motivated to turn the public against them. Can't have large numbers of people thinking critically about the status quo!

I can guarantee you this. The children of the ruling class thugs pushing this agenda will all continue to go to university. Its young working class people (and many middle class too) who will have the neoliberal principle of personal choice suddenly withdrawn in respect of their educational journey.

My one relevant piece of experience about the current ridiculousness in the UK is I have attended one match that involved an Israeli team in 2009 in Turkey and let me tell you: incredibly racist and obnoxious. I can only imagine it's got worse.

A lot that could be said about this but if you look on Twitter it’s noticeable that the replies and quote tweets are *overwhelmingly* telling him he shouldn’t have apologised and even attacking him for doing so. That’s the feedback loop certain users are plugged into now, and it has consequences.

Sky News is platforming a guy who says he's from a Jewish Aston Villa supporters group, but it turns out that the guy a) isn't Jewish, b) the group doesn't exist, and c) he works for the right wing Henry Jackson Society, whose website says he 'specialises in disinformation'. Well, quite.

A tweet from Sky News reading 'Aston Villa fan Andrew Fox says he has received online abuse and even death threats following the decision to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from the match in Birmingham.' A follow up tweet says 'This is a correction of a previous post that incorrectly identified Mr Fox as Jewish'.
