Dog panting is keeping me awake.

Here's her unimpressed old lady lounging from earlier.

I'm babysitting two cats and a dog this week, and I'm going to spam enough of their photos to be everyone's problem.

Orlando still has strong feelings about the Pulse shooting, and I hope that Orlando juries will follow DC and Chicago juries' examples.

Today I drove past a random anti Trump demonstration on US19. On a Monday afternoon. Florida isn't red; it's vote suppressed. And it's bubbling.

This is a corollary of "fascism and domestic abuse are the same thing at different scales" that I'm going to need to think about some more.
My grandmother (degrees etc) pinpointed a REAL problem for Dems: In an abusive addict society, people who are abused often want to Identify WITH the abusive parent (Gov) in order to be on the "winning", ie non-abused side. It's a model of abuse, not real winning. We need to account for this

Meet the AI workers who tell their friends and family to stay away from AI
When the people making AI seem trustworthy are the ones who trust it the least, it shows that incentives for speed are overtaking safety, experts say

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm a fused glass artist specializing in jewelry. This winter I'm branching into wreaths that make great decorations for walls, windows & Christmas trees.

I sell at nora.jewelry.

I'm donating 10% of this weekend's sales to Distribute Aid's harm reduction toolkit program.

It was a three-man team that took the Grok hardpoint that day, and two of us were just there to guard the poet.Whistler was a sonnet slinger fresh from the Guatemalan meter wars, still waking up with the taste of a bloody metonym on his tongue.

Absolutely.

I was the preferred tech support for both my mom and mother-in-law, despite my brother and spouse being far more technically skilled, because I said things like "click the lower left hand corner" instead of "open the start menu."

Technology should make our lives easier, not harder.
I am increasingly of the opinion that people who change menus and look and feel of computer software just so that you know it's a new version should be personally forced to play tech support to my mother for five months.

If I could give any advice to young writers and artists in the US, it would be to leave the country. Failing that, marry someone with a steady income and good health insurance.

(I know this was meant as, "don't have an artistically cannibalistic relationship," but damn I wish I had emigrated.)

NPR used to be a place left leaning folks could look at and to.

But now they refuse to call teenaged girls children. The underage women line is toxic and horrible.

Underage women are teenagers at best, but they're children. They're children.

Dunk on Nuzzi Day is a great reminder that:
1. Professional romance authors deserve our respect for their writing skills, and
2. Repost/link your friends and screenshot your enemies, because that piece does NOT deserve more clicks.

Y'all weren't exactly making room in the big huge tent for Zohran Mamdani, as I recall. That was months of hemming and hawing and handwringing.

But now you're flipping for MTG cos of a single weekend where her conspiracy-riddled cheesebrain finally sussed out things we all knew for YEARS.
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

What this reveals is that for most people in charge right now “AI” is less useful as a technology than as a piece of language to shift a conversation in whatever direction they need it to go. In one minute it will propel a new economy; in another it’s the reason for a recession.
