Our story on Srs2/PARI family DNA helicases linking chromatin bridges to the Aurora-B dependent NoCut checkpoint is now out in its peer-reviewed version. Thanks to @reviewcommons.org and @jcb.org for a smooth review process! Original preprint thread here: bsky.app/profile/long...
Dam, Moreno, Brownlow, @longchrom.bsky.social et al. @igbmc.bsky.social identify Srs2 as a key mediator of abscission inhibition in yeast and show that its human paralog PARI regulates abscission-associated events. rupress.org/jcb/article/...

I'm exhausted from reading 'not X but Y' sentence structures.

It's a hallmark of AI, and that's fine, but the issue is that sometimes I find it every other paragraph!

🧬 #Yeast condensin does more than organize chromosomes.
New study shows it acts as a transient crosslinker in entangled DNA, stabilizing entanglements rather than resolving them. This challenges current models of chromosome organizing proteins.

They haven't tried to update it, or twist it in any way. It's just The Muppet Show you watched when you were a kid.

Mitosis has a timing system. If chromosomes attach properly, cells divide on schedule and keep proliferating. If attachment is slow or incomplete, the delay is recorded — and daughter cells stop dividing.
We explore this link in our new preprint.
