Many studies attribute the success of right-wing parties to sexism.

What is sexism? How is it measured? How does it influence elections?

My systematic review of studies on sexism as a predictor of political behavior and attitudes is about to appear in @poqjournal.bsky.social!

This is why I wouldn’t put too much stock in current MRP results showing reform majority - voters can and do tactically co-ordinate as we saw last July with anti-Con tactical voting. Indeed, strong MRP results for Reform may help inform and encourage anti-Farage tactical voting.
It's easy to look at stuff like this and assume the next general election is going to a mess. But there are 650 individual contests — in which voters are pretty adept at working out which lever they need to pull to get the result they want.

1. Ecological Fallacy: just because a constituency goes from one party to another doesn't mean many individual voters made same journey

2. Availability Bias: just because you can easily picture the stereotype of a particular voter doesn't mean that they are numerous in electorate

Do men see gender parity in representation as detrimental to their interests? What about when women’s representation exceeds parity? And how do such shifts affect men’s fairness perceptions? I address these questions in my article, now published in PRQ. 1/9

Most literature reviews miss the point.

Not because they’re sloppy.

But because they treat the literature like a box to tick.

In my latest Respect the Marble Post, I carve out a 6-step process to writing a meaningful lit review:

Predictably fascinating from Sir John (helped, of course, by @robfordmancs.bsky.social, @stevefisher.bsky.social, @patrick-pme.bsky.social and @lottehargrave.bsky.social). Left me wondering how much Reform's success correlates with low turnout and vice versa? Guessing that might matter in 2028/9?

Why does 25% AfD among young men spark a thousand "what is going on with young men?" posts yet Die Linke 34% among young women generates...nothing at all?

Yes, young men voting for the radical right is an important phenomenon. But so is young women going rad left *at even higher rates*.
