I got out because I was forced out by layoffs to increase profits of a massive media conglomerate.

We still have the old British rhotic "R" and Soccer. They co-opted their own inbred aristocracy's way of speaking to try and be posh and call it football to try and keep us down.
The word "soccer" originated in England and, in some situations, is still used. Many old reports written in England will refer to it as soccer, and more recent TV shows and other media still use it. The hostility towards the word in England is fairly recent. I wrote this on the subject in 2017.

Yeah, one of the many nightmare scenarios facing us is that a badly led and mostly destroyed intelligence infrastructure fails to prevent a major terrorist attack and that attack is then used as justification to speed up the fascism.
