“Like taking food from the mouths of babes,” said the Republican Congressman, flicking crumbs from his $2,000 suit.
The GOP budget bill would cut up to $300 billion from SNAP over the next ten years.

42 million Americans get food assistance from SNAP.

This bill would make people go hungry.

If you're looking for a good gift to buy today but you want to fight against the power of Big Tech, try my book about the horrible ideas of the Silicon Valley billionaires and how we can fight back. I'm biased, but I think it's pretty good. The NY Times called it "smart and wonderfully readable."

September 13, 2026 will be the 20th anniversary, in point of fact. For a brief period of time, my cat Ghlaghghee (pronounced "fluffy") was the most famous cat on the Internet. She took it in stride. One of the great moments of the blog era. We should do something for the anniversary. Suggestions?

dreaming of an online department store called Back to Basics, full of profoundly dumb TVs and DVD players, DVDs, maybe even mp3 players, 100% cotton tshirts and jeans in a range of sizes, all-cotton linens in sub-400 count, and towels, maybe low-nonsense skincare? idk.

Just heard that after 27 years on Louisiana’s death row, Chris “Jimmie” Duncan is finally getting out. Not exactly sure when, but I’m told he’ll be home for Thanksgiving.

This is wonderful news.

Here’s my 2009 piece on the forensic fraud that got him convicted:
Forensics Fraud?
Experts say this video shows a doctor manufacturing evidence. So why is a man still on death row?

From the NTSB preliminary report on the deadly UPS crash. Engine flying off a wing that bursts into flames just as you're lifting off is not good.

The good news is we don't have to make these trades. Just nominate somebody willing to stand up for everyone. Not just because it's the right thing to do; it's a much more compelling message. It's a *winning* message. Trans people would very much like to beat Republicans; they're telling you how.

Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, many Kentuckians are choosing to withhold spending from Target, Home Depot and Amazon. These corporations have enabled policies that abandon DEI, allow ICE to target families, and prioritize tax breaks over communities. Collective pressure matters. #WeAintBuyingIt

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.
