I’m by no means an expert but feels with a reminder that antifa is a) real b) one expression of antifascism c) not merely a synonym for antifascism d) again, real, as opposed to the bogeyman version in MAGA’s imagination and executive orders, which are meant to target basically any regime opponent

I hate the way these people are like "the Greens used to be about climate change and animal welfare, but now..." as if they themselves ever gave a shit about climate change and animal welfare

A 15 year old boy with autism went missing earlier this week

He was selling fruit with his family in Springbranch when he disappeared

They filed a missing person’s report & begged the public to help find him

Turns out he was in a Houston ICE detention facility

They kidnapped a disabled child!

when parents of autistic kids worry, it's about things like this. many of our kids wouldn't be able to advocate for themselves if something like this happened. we need help, not finger pointing or snake oil cures. we need compassion and understanding.

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

Houston, Texas

At least we no longer have to hear about freedom being in Americans' DNA or whatever. Turns out we love to eat shit and bow to some bloated halfwit like any other people throughout history

My friends are like "I can't connect with/find time for my faith right now, do you have any advice?" and I'm like "make a space for prayer/meditation in your home. Don't care if it's a room or a corner or just part of a shelf. Put physical space aside for it, and the mental space you need will come.
A prayer corner under an eaves roof, there's a flock of paper doves on the back wall, in front is a table with two books, an icon, and two lot candles on it. Hanging over the wall is a wooden cross. There's a kneeler below.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Love the people trying to explain voting to *Rob Ford* in the replies. Strong "what you, the Pope, don't understand about Christianity is..." energy

All political parties seem to hate the Knowledge Economy that is the consequence of deindustrialisation. The jobs are wrong. The education system is wrong. The requirement for more skilled people is wrong.

Nothing is right for Labour or Tories as they can’t stand the future they made.

Once again, during my life as a teenager and beyond, the places dominated by one ethnicity where I have felt most unsafe, threatened and vulnerable have *always* been those dominated by white people. Or white blokes, to be precise.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.
