25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

I would find a way to build this with a broken dec drive and nixie tube console displays to more accurately reflect my undergraduate AST lab experience.
If you're into #astronomy and #LEGO bricks, this is definitely a project worth supporting! 🔭🧪

When I was in college, WDIV in Detroit installed "MeTV" booths at local malls and other destinations, where people could record themselves in the hopes of being featured on the news.
Today my kid asked me if people tried to go viral when I was his age and I almost started a tirade about how omnipresent phones had ruined people’s brains until I remembered call-in shows and baba booey

I've always been bothered by the framing of "making the world better for future generations." That lets us off the hook! Let's make the world better now! Then it will also be better for future generations!
