I have finished the first draft of my next stage adaptation!

I would take the rest of the day off to celebrate, but I need to work on some scenic drawings.

25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

There was poetry discourse this week, so thought I'd share this thing that popped into my head while I was sitting on the runway at DTW.

I am so close to finishing the first draft of this script!

And once I finish, I will go back and somehow cut 20 pages.

I would find a way to build this with a broken dec drive and nixie tube console displays to more accurately reflect my undergraduate AST lab experience.
If you're into #astronomy and #LEGO bricks, this is definitely a project worth supporting! 🔭🧪

reminds me of a proverb my russian professor taught me - "when you think you have reached the bottom, listen for the knocking from below."
old soviet joke about the difference between an optimist and a pessimist

a pessimist complains surely things can’t possibly get worse while the optimist knows things can always get worse
honestly i think you could probably describe the vast majority of American media, political, and corporate elites as decadent

nobody knows how bad things can get

When I was in college, WDIV in Detroit installed "MeTV" booths at local malls and other destinations, where people could record themselves in the hopes of being featured on the news.
Today my kid asked me if people tried to go viral when I was his age and I almost started a tirade about how omnipresent phones had ruined people’s brains until I remembered call-in shows and baba booey

In my late-30s I started self describing as "increasingly middle aged," but I just realized that, statistically speaking, with each passing year I am now decreasingly middle aged.

I don't want future generations to live in a dystopian hell scape, BUT I DON'T WANT TO LIVE IN A DYSTOPIAN HELLSCAPE EITHER!
I've always been bothered by the framing of "making the world better for future generations." That lets us off the hook! Let's make the world better now! Then it will also be better for future generations!
