Things I have researched in the name of fanfic recently: technical issues with generators, thermals in hang gliding, how big is a nine-year-old girl, and the most common English transliteration of mapo tofu

An oldie Zevran tarot card I still love 🗡️
#art #dragonage #zevran
A tarot card illustraion featuring the portrait of Zevran Arainai from Dragon Age. The main colors are red, black and gold. The shadows of crows leave his hood while golden coins fall in the middle of the piece. Centered there's a white skull with a dagger over it.

I deleted their comment, I just felt like being a bitch first
lyudmilaw.bsky.social
It’s probably better to ignore them but
Screenshot of comments. The top comment says “Greetings, I hope all is well with you. I appreciate you sharing this wonderful story; it
was a pleasure to read. If you're game, we could talk further about a few of my ideas for your story in a private conversation. I would also like to share with you my proposal for a commission.
Feel free to get in touch with me if you'd want to learn more; my contact information is in my bio. I'm excited to connect!” This is a common technique to scam writers on AO3.

The comment below, from me (the writer) says “lol no.
Buzz off scammer”.

My favorite thing in this world is writing Alyss and Alistair getting real vulnerable about stuff and then immediately going into bro mode to mitigate how emotional they feel. It will forever be their thing. 😆
Alistair chuckled. "Well, now that I successfully brought down your mood… I should probably get some sleep. Or I can take over until Leliana gets up, I don't mind."

Alyss shook her head. "I got it. I was enjoying my quiet time, so…" she grinned. "Kindly fuck off please."

"Aye aye, fearless leader!" Alistair teased, getting back on his feet and giving an exaggerated salute.

Alyss glared at him. "I said to stop that you fucking bastard," she scolded.

The man only laughed, waving his goodbye over his shoulder.

"Prick," Alyss grumbled, and returned to her book.

It's so heartbreaking having to tell Varric later, once I took him with me. If he sees it himself, I won't have to break the news

No. No, he goes out first and has no idea about that whole argument and IT'S EVEN WORSE
lyudmilaw.bsky.social
Ohh this is always a tough one

I usually go B) because at this point, we know there are two more archdemons out there, so two more Blights to come. We still need the Grey Wardens, and they need a leader. We can't risk them falling apart & not having them in the future when we need them

Today's Dragon Age Poll: In DAI, did you leave Hawke in the Fade?

A - Heck no!
B - Yup.
C - Depended
D - Varric will never forgive me

At the bottom of this chapter (still unfinished, as usually I left off in the middle of the sentence) is this.

I don't remember where I meant to put this but I am still amused by myself.
“I failed to die again,” I said. “Go, me.”

For #DAFanFriday, a snippet of the unfinished next chapter of my on-hiatus-but-being-rewritten-slowly DAO fic. Some canon dialogue, some of my own
“The battle,” she said. “What happened? Do you know what happened to the king’s army?”

“The man who was to respond to your signal…quit the field,” Morrigan said. “The darkspawn won your battle.”

“What?” Devon gasped.

“Those he abandoned were massacred. Your friend…he is not taking it well.”

“Well, I’m sure he’s not!” Devon exclaimed. “I’m not taking it well! Everyone is dead, the king and the Grey Wardens too?”

“All dead,” she said flatly. “You would not want to see what is happening in that valley now.”

“Wait,” Devon said, holding up a hand. “Your mother rescued us? How? We were on the top of a tower filled with darkspawn.”

“She turned into a giant bird,” Morrigan said, “and plucked the two of you off the tower, one in each talon. Then she flew you here, where we healed you as best we could with magic and herbs.”

“What.”

“What?”

“Your mother…Flemeth…the old woman, turned into a giant bird.”

I forgot to do #WIPWednesday so uhhh have a Tidbit Thursday? is that anything?

Here's a bit from the chapter I'll be posting this weekend
As she approached her gate, though, she veered off toward the left and through the tunnel that led to the clinic. Checking in on the doctor after yesterday morning's incident was the neighborly thing to do, right? She was certainly not going to the clinic in the hopes that she could get him to talk a bit. Definitely not.

Thanks to Bryan A Murray for pointing this out: When you shop at Spirit Halloween you can donate to Spirit of Children which helps sick kids have a fun Halloween. However, you don't have to go to a Spirit Halloween store to help out. You can donate online.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 1579: If you’re going to write in any genre (children’s fiction, SFF, romance, etc), you need to read EXTENSIVELY in that genre. You need to read current authors in the genre. You need to know what’s been done; what tropes exist; how the genre has changed.

Isn’t it amazing the way life can seem too short, and intrinsically magical, yet at the same time feel like a long, uphill road, potholed with fuckwits?

Yes!!! And so many random sites, I remember finding one called "What's in Jeremy's Wallet" or something, and it was literally everything in this guy's wallet, including driver's license, scanned and uploaded for the world to see

Truly a different time

ok this isn't exactly what the cartoon means but this happened when I first went on Lexapro years ago

I'd start talking to someone with literally no idea what the next word was going to be

I never lied or said anything outrageous it was just like...my brain got skipped during that process. Surreal
