Here's Rep. Gregory Meeks, top Dem on the House Foreign Affairs Cmte, after a briefing with DOD officials about Trump's now-routine killings of people on supposed "drug boats":

"Incredible" for "how completely absent any credible legal rationale was for the admin's" strikes.

Finally! The truth is spelt out officially.

“Let’s recognise our failure.”

“The truth is that we have failed to avoid an overshooting above 1.5C in the next few years. And that going above 1.5C has devastating consequences.“

Without having followed the link, I’d like to think this might not be mutually exclusive of David Graeber’s bullshit jobs analysis. Doubt it. Also, I’d rather pay a person well to do work that needs to be done than subsidize margins for machine owners sucking up energy & water while rent seeking.
the lies and disdain for labor are bad enough, but the way the culture treats these unremarkable men like they're sociologists is salt in the wound

I'm just burying my head in the past (and very dry satire of its foibles in what was nearly realtime or accurate speculative fiction then), in the form of Graham Greene stuff.

Of course, it turns out there's nothing new.

As feckless and useless as he is, Rand Paul is correct here.

The White House demolition is being privately funded by Google, Lockheed, and others, according to The Hill.

If the President can just privately fund whatever government programs lack appropriations, that's another nail in the coffin of the Constitution.
Another important qualifier, in my book, about humor and insults in general: are you punching down or punching up?
Running a contact center and maybe your CRM or telephony or other contact points... or all of 'em went down with the AWS us-east outage? It might be a bad day for you if you didn't have a plan. I've been through it.
I am a technologist but a morning like this encourages my Luddism (understanding technology’s impact, valuing autonomy, adopting it intentionally). I had cash; while Venmo was down, our visit to the PTSO coffee table outside school happened anyway & The Childe did some practical math.
I appreciate the ecumenical critiques. Not to “both-sides” it: there are significant differences and fairly one-sided undemocratic reasons for the complete deadlock, but this sign could very well stand the test of time. I had my ear out for process and not just content critiques from the stage.
I have to wonder, with Donald Trump’s particular enthusiasm for McDonald’s, and his self-aggrandized narrative about his role in real estate, does Trump play their Monopoly game?
I took metro this morning. Got on a Silver Line in the direction of Ashburn. Operator pronounced it ASSburn.

Yeah we’re all on the train to ass burn these days.

Broadly, it still seems to me that Republicans tend to disenfranchise voters. Democrats tend to disenfranchise candidates. It is still all fucked up. Neither argue for actual democracy and pluralism, as party policy at least.
Listening to SCOTUS arguments, and to Paul Clement admit Republicans have a hard time finding voters who want to join Republicans in court to have standing to support Republican complaints about (what in my mind amounts to) voter enfranchisement.
