Charmingly irregular. People say I'm funny, but usually I just chat nonsense & hope for the best.
I write & edit gaming videos & retrospectives for @RetroHutch.com. I like cats.

New video! We all have our miserable little piles of secrets, according to Dracula. But what is The Secret of Shinobi? Herbal Essences? Maybe it's Maybelline? Nope. Turns out, it's a doggo! Here's my retrospective look at Shadow Dancer on the #Sega #MegaDrive.

This is just getting ridiculous. Affordable personal computing is looking to become even more challenging. RAM - for the longest time - was one of the more price relaxed categories of a PC purchase. Not anymore for the foreseeable future. I have no idea how the world keeps on this trajectory.
Crucial is shutting down — because Micron wants to sell its RAM and SSDs to AI companies instead. It’s already getting hard to build an affordable PC, and the exit of the longstanding provider of consumer memory is going to make that even more challenging www.theverge.com/news/837594/...

The AI apocalypse continues. The amount of collateral damage from AI is truly staggering. This is not likely to end well.

I reviewed Marvel Cosmic Invasion, which charges $29.99 for barely any videogame. It's not well designed, it's short as hell, and it features superheroes who don't feel super in the least. Real shame, given the studio's great track record.

Watched this last night. It's a brilliant evisceration of the state of (most) corporate executives and publishers in the games industry. The "I want a $10m game for $5m" is something I have heard before with lesser sums. Someone once asked me to make a €250k game for €2k.
NEW VIDEO: Big business is a death cult worshipping a many-faced Techno God. In an industry full of takers who want to eradicate the makers, so-called AI promises a nonsensical fantasy where games are made for free and sold to a world of laid off former workers. It is unhinged.

This is such a mess. The HBO Max "remastered" version of The Simpsons reveals that Duff, Duff Lite, and Duff Dry all come from the same pipe. 🙄

Can confirm, this really upset me when we watched this in school. I must have been about 7 or 8.
Jamie Lee Curtis asked My Girl studio to put trigger warning on poster over Macaulay Culkin bee sting
Actor told Columbia’s head of marketing that the film’s scene showing the death of Culkin, then 10, was going to freak out every child in the US

Scottish friends! I'm looking for a voice actor (roughly 30-40 years old, female) for an unannounced game✨

You definitely don't need to be an established actor, but you must be UK based with your own recording equipment.

This is a paid role, DM for brief! #voiceacting

Home Office inadvertently bans historical research about the Dunkirk evacuation.
I'd hate to be a boat owner after this passes.

Imagine all the information that could be be useful for your navigation but which would ALSO be potentially useful to those guiding small boats across the Channel.

Will the Shipping Forecast cease broadcasting? That, after all, makes crossings easier.

Hillsborough. Post Office. Grenfell. It’s always the same. A cog of state apparatus has failed. Look to blame victims. Wait for decades. Launch an inquiry. Wait till everyone affected is too old to fight. Issue a meagre apology. Job done. No one will do jail time for Covid either. This is the system
As per fucking usual. Cops lie. Press lie. MPs lie. Families campaign in pain and anger. The truth comes out and no one, NO ONE gets punished no cops go to jail. Again and again and again it’s the same story but what is wrong with the justice system? Too many jury trials.

Executives are the only ones regurgitative AI could actually replace. AI can fuck up game projects by making irrational demands based on utterly derivative ideas.

You wanna lay off the dead wood? Start at the fucking top.

I played through HORSES last night (via Epic, lol). Is it messed up? Absolutely. It’s a very adult game, both in its themes and experiences.

Every time I’ve hit “Search the store” on Steam today, it autofills with trending games, the top one being Slut Squad.

Where does Steam draw the line?
Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf
