listen I want them to all get in the sea, but if they can all turn on Miller for self-preservation and throw him to the sharks first, it will save us some work on the backend.

I actually think Tillis' approach here is not bad.

You're not going go persuade other Republicans to buck Trump directly. You MIGHT lead them to revolt against Stephen Miller, without whom Trump might crumble at this point.
Tillis: "To be clear -- I'm not critical of the president. I'm critical of the bad advice he's getting on Greenland."

A programmer writes code to perform a specific function. There's a logical progression of steps that can be understood (and debugged) by another programmer.

AI codes by statistical probability, "What most frequently comes after this line?"

There's *no* logical progression to be understood.
“One notable MIT study found that 95 percent of companies that integrated AI saw zero meaningful growth in revenue. For coding tasks, one of AI’s most widely hyped applications, another study showed that programmers who used AI coding tools actually became slower at their jobs.”
AI Completely Failing to Boost Productivity, Says Top Analyst
AI may or may not excel at a lot of things, but from an economic standpoint, it's definitely not making us more productive.

Sorry, but I'm getting increasingly hooked on this "gesture control" feature of the Vivaldi desktop browser.

Vivaldi is Chrome-based, but w/o the AI and privacy-assaulting shit, and with a built-in ad blocker (which is working *quite* well).

I'm extracting clips from PDF scans of old newspapers for #genealogy reasons; here's a #LinuxTip for getting them:

pdfjam -o .pdf --trim 'cm cm cm cm' --clip true .pdf

Unfortunately it's a matter of trial & error to find the right clip dimensions.

"groups tend to be more immoral than individuals"

Many of the evangelical Christians I've known were among the kindest, most generous people I've ever met.

But holy sh*t when they act as a bloc!!!

The unfortunate thing about being the smartest cow in the world is that you're still a cow.
Meet Veronika, the tool-using cow. Veronika uses sticks to scratch herself, using different orientations and motions, an example of multi-purpose tool use. This suggests scientists may have underestimated cows' cognitive abilities. arstechnica.com/science/2026...

Just because a lot of people are cruel, bigoted, and brainwashed doesn’t mean we have to find a “middle ground” with them or a “compromise” that satisfies some of their racist delusions. We just don’t.

It's a shame more white men over 35 aren't yelling at them then. Get to work.
ICE seems to get completely flummoxed when they’re being yelled at by white men over 35. They kind of put their heads down and shuffle their feet. It’s like their kryptonite.
