Here is why this is so completely illegal. The law says very clearly that once TPS is granted for a 6, 12, or 18-month period, the designation “shall remain in effect” until that period ends.

There is ZERO legal authority to terminate it early. None.
(2) EFFECTIVE PERIOD OF DESIGNATION FOR FOREIGN STATES The designation of a foreign state (or part of such foreign state) under paragraph (1) shall - (A) take effect upon the date of publication of the designation under such paragraph, or such later date as the Attorney General may specify in the notice published under such paragraph, and (B) shall remain in effect untill the effective date of the termination of the designation under paragraph (3)(B).I

No, he isn’t. There is literally no legal means by which he can do this. It’s not presidential power. TPS by law cannot be terminated early, and Somali TPS is not set to expire until March 17, 2026.

After renaming immigration judges as "deportation judges" (not what they're called by law), DHS, which acts as the prosecutor in immigration cases, is falsely claiming that people could do the job part-time "after hours"; except no, immigration courts are only open during the daytime.

Take a read at this post made by Mukhtar M. Ibrahim regarding the comments made by Chief O’Hara about the East African community. A real apology and accountability is required.
Mukhtar M. Ibrahim If an apology starts with "If people took it the wrong way," is it really an apology? Minneapolis saw that play out this week, and it's a lesson in how quickly leaders can lose trust. A few days ago, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara tola a reporter that "groups of East African kids... coming from surrounding communities" were contributing to recent violence in Minneapolis. He went further, saying: "They aren't the poor kids from Minneapolis that are our residents. These are kids coming down in mommy's Mercedes-Benz to Dinkytown, and they don't know where they are." On social media, the reaction was swift. Somali parents, youth workers, and community leaders pushed back, calling the remarks harmful. Because a single sentence from a public official can turn into a stereotype that follows an entire community. For many Somali families who have spent decades building stability, contributing to Minneapolis, and guiding their children through a complicated world, the language felt dangerous. It placed an entire community inside a single frame and made it easier for others to fill in the rest with bias. That's how narratives form. A line becomes a headline. A headline becomes a storyline. And a storyline travels long after the original comment is gone. Alpha News picked it up with this framing: "MPD chief cites 'East African kids' from 'out of town' in ongoing Dinkytown, youth crime problems." Once that framing enters the ecosystem, it's no longer just a comment; it becomes a narrative that others will recycle and reinforce. After days of criticism, the chief issued an apology. But the wording of that apology raised its own questions. He said: "If people have taken anything I said out of context in a way that's caused harm, I apologize." That structure places the burden on how others interpreted his words, instead of recognizing the effect his comments had on a community already facing scrutiny. It reads less like an apology and more like: "I'm sorry you misunderstood me." It leaves the community carrying the burden of interpretation rather than the leader owning the consequences of his words. A real apology does something different. It names the harm. It acknowledges why the words fell the way they did. And it clarifies the values and commitments the leader intends to uphold moving forward. The chief's conditional apology fell short of that standard, which is why many Somali residents felt it dismissed their concerns and deepened the very mistrust his initial comments created. Moments like this are a reminder that how leaders communicate matters. Words from public officials carry weight, shape narratives, and influence public trust. Intent is never enough. Impact - especially in communities that already navigate layers of scrutiny — is what determines whether communication heals, harms, or widens the gap.

The House has voted unanimously to repeal the provisions in the shutdown package which allow GOP Senators to sue the federal government and get as much as $1 million in damages - because the feds looked at their phone records in the Jan. 6 investigation.
