To all of you hopeful fighters, good morning. You won a round.

I think people underestimate how big this is. Like a city-wide strike is not something that has happened in the US for nearly 100 years
there are a bunch of big names on this list, including multiple beard award winners, and some places i never would have guessed in a hundred years (the malt shop?!) and i'm genuinely floored and delighted to see so many participants

i was talking with someone in the twin cities about how it’s not even accurate to call them protesters. they’re literally just people protecting their city from TERRORISTS.
Every time the Trump regime uses the words "funded protesters" and "outside agitators" news outlets need to cut to this photo from last week.

ICE has invaded these communities. Outside agitators don't show up in their fucking bathrobes.

I just want people to know that there is no active insurrection, no regular protests, no rioting or whatever. The only time people are in the streets is when masked armed ICE thugs descend on one of our neighbors to disappear them as part of a federal government-led ethnic cleansing campaign.

Democrats must refuse to vote for any funding bill that increases ICE’s budget and refuse to fund DHS until ICE’s abuses of power are stopped.

ICE has kidnapped so many people from their cars that the city had to put out this statement. Let that sink in.
Vehicles that are abandoned due to an ICE detention and towed to the City's impound lot will be released to their owners or a representative at no cost.

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

Imagine 7000 ICE agents sent to polling stations in Democratic strongholds, harass/intimidate black/brown people or people with accents, prove your citizenship or we detain you.

Call Senators NOW to demand they block DHS/ICE appropriations.

We aren't in Kansas anymore people!

Keep calling dems.
Abolishing ICE and CBP is a centrist position. These agencies should have their budgets zeroed out and monies applied to affordable housing.

Every detention could be an email reminding people of clerical matters needing attention.

🚨NEWS: Senate Dems are reportedly offering ICE funding increases in exchange for body cams and de-escalation training for agents.

Body cams can be turned off. De-escalation training can be ignored.

Unclear if no masks, requiring ID badges, and no immunity is on the table.

A much better plan is AOC's call to claw back ICE funding and devote it to affordable housing.

Cortez-Masto clownishly wants to give ICE funding to local cops. No, never. Local cops are helping ICE right now. They'd just continue to do so.

This thing that Homan is saying they’re going to do, this *itself* is a flagrant violation of the first amendment. The government making a database of people exercising their rights with the explicit intent of getting them fired or ostracized or worse.
They're going to start using the Kirk witch hunt strategy.

I would like to underscore this part: "People are in the streets in greater numbers than the first Trump term." Elite pundits and opinion are extremely resistant to this fact and it has trickled down to regular people. But it is demonstrably TRUE. Ask why they are so resistant? Who does it serve?
People are in the streets in greater numbers than the first Trump term and party ID is shifting more significantly, and yet the Democratic Party has been considerably more accommodationist
New party identification polling from Gallup this week shows Americans are moving against Trump faster than they did in his first term. Adults were R+4 in 2024, now D+8. That 12-pt drop is 3x the change in the first year of his first term.

10/ Abolishing ICE is much harder today than Section 24 was then. ICE is statutory and an entrenched agency. But Perkins reminds us they are policy choices. They’ve been built, dismantled, and rebuilt before. Immigration enforcement is policy. And policy can be changed.

We could have simply offered a dignified wage to do any of the work we need done at any time.

San Fransisco could be clean right now.

It was always a matter of political will.

Mpls: If you are working to support neighbors right now I *highly* suggest avoiding the generic "let me know what you need" and instead asking/offering directly:

"I'm going to the store. Send me a list."

"Do you need shampoo? Fruit? Toilet paper?"

"Can I help with your laundry?"
