Because women who weren't Princess Leia spoke a total of 63 seconds in the first three Star Wars films. Because women couldn't serve on juries in all 50 states until 1968. Because the president is a rapist.
Every Non-Leia Spoken Line in Original 'Star Wars' Trilogy: 63 Seconds Total
A new video highlights the shockingly-little amount of time women spoke on-screen in the original "Star Wars" trilogy.

AOC to @pabloreports.bsky.social : A swastika is one of the clearest symbols of hatred in all of humanity… to remove that designation… indicates a possible collaboration with those very elements, which I think is genuinely frightening to any American.

Don’t forget that the sandwich guy was released at the scene and then re-arrested in a raid by a full tactical team. They were willing to kill him and and any neighbors in the way to get propaganda footage of the “arrest”.

This is what I love about being a book critic. I read 2 books recently that were uncomfortable experiences. Digging into why I felt that way and what the author might be trying to do helped me come to a better understanding of each.
i'm not holding anyone's hand when i say this, but when a book's goal is to make you feel uncomfortable and then it succeeds in doing so, that doesn't make it problematic. that's the book delivering on its promise.

not everything is a comfort read.
