I'm no VAR fan, but VAR should not be blamed for the occasional assery of the laws of football. John Brooks made the right call, which would/should also have been made by the on-field referee, even if the whole episode was farcical.

Dominik Szoboszlai red card: Did ref and VAR in Liverpool v Man City get Haaland drama right?
Manchester City's win at Liverpool ended in complete chaos - but did the referee and the VAR get Dominik Szoboszlai's red card right?

Imagine the things that Stokely Carmichael would have posted about Dr. King
The successful nonviolence and civil rights movements of the past, as I’ve gathered from reading about them, ALSO featured a shit ton of incessant petty drama and in-fighting.

But crucially, they didn’t have social media - so this was kept far more private.

In Jamaica, mid-patty, reading this and nodding deeply.
"The Jamaican patty is...a culinary avatar of New York on par with the hot dog, the pizza slice, and the bagel, those other portable totems of immigrant ingenuity and the city’s knack for making the quick address of hunger into something like a civic religion."

All Hail the Jamaican Patty
A pastry as ubiquitous in New York City as pizza or bagels is getting its turn on the higher end.

There is an entire genres of medieval medieval music and poetry that romanticizes the countryside in opposition to urban centers. It’s called the “pastourelle”. So yeah, neither unique to the US nor to the present
Do other countries have this weird notion that you’re not a “real” representative of the nation if you live in an urban center? Like do the French say Parisians aren’t really French? Are you considered not a real German if you live in Berlin? Or is this mainly a weird American thing?

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

The new “entry tier” will account for 10% of that team allotment—equivalent to 1.6% of total tickets per match when both teams’ allocations are combined. Based on the capacity of most 2026 World Cup stadiums, this translates to just over 1,000 tickets per match available at that price point.
MIAMI (AP) — FIFA slashes price for some World Cup tickets to $60 for teams’ most loyal fans after global backlash.
