I realize there's a collective shrug from the media but I personally find it so deeply shameful & so utterly repulsive that the Director of the NIH, Jay Bhattacharya, and the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, Martin Makary, are rubbing shoulders with RFK Jr's buddy Russell Brand

I’ve been back on the CD tip since getting our car, and it’s a LOT like what buying vinyl was like in the ‘90s right now: steals to be had on rad old stuff (if you can find a place selling them), but cool new stuff is being pressed in tiny runs and needs to be snapped up ASAP.
Interesting convo with a friend who owns a hip NYC record shop about a sudden renewed interest in CDs, which were a negligible part of his business till recently.

The years I spent on antidepressants are one of my biggest regrets, and even I don't believe they cause violence.
It's so weird how antidepressants only cause the impulse to commit mass violence in the country where there is easy access to guns. What a coincidence!
First they came for reproductive rights.

There is zero evidence SSRIs cause mass violence.
You know what does? Guns — and the fact that anyone can access weapons that kill hundreds in seconds.

I think this is absolutely right. They memorized the lessons of that era — triangulation, bipartisanship, government is somehow shameful — and can’t adapt to the very different world we’re now in.
IMHO, most of the Dem leadership came up through the ranks during the Reagan years and started getting seniority during the 1994 shellacking so a fighting retreat is their standard tactic. They don’t do brinksmanship well.
