OpenAI needed Disney a lot more than Disney needed OpenAI, and their partnership reflects that
Bob Iger Just Got the Better of Sam Altman
Bob Iger, you crafty fox. That’s all I could think as I watched the Walt Disney Co. chief executive officer talk about his company’s blockbuster deal with OpenAI to license the use of 200 or so beloved characters to be remixed with the Sora video app.

College football is America’s greatest sport and it isn’t close
The one thing I think non-Michigan people should know about times like this is that you can often get information before it's published elsewhere by following what a guy who goes by "Big Boutros" posts across multiple message boards

“Good Vibrations” hits #1 today in ‘66.

“.. one of the greatest pop singles ever made,” said George Martin. “I remember thinking, ‘My God, this is the future of music.’ .. the textures, the changes, the sounds you’d never heard before — it opened up possibilities for every musician who came after.”

Very weak stuff by Bevacqua. The ACC didn't even go hard against Notre Dame in the press, explicitly to avoid this kind of outcome. Notre Dame got screwed here and Bevacqua is looking for someone he can bully as a result, which I get, but c'mon
Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua to DP Show on the ACC: "We were mystified by the actions of the conference to attack their biggest partner really in football...They have certainly done permanent damage to the relationship between the conference and Notre Dame."

The hate is real, and, contra the headline, it is not so secret. And the op-eds opposing the Netflix/WB merger have begun. But, as an antitrust lawyer, I think the merger is likely to be pro-competitive and good for consumers. I'll explain why. 1/ www.nytimes.com/2025/12/07/o...

College football is too weird this year which I mostly like but not today because it means there was too much going on for me to get my constitutionally guaranteed 12 hours of everybody largely just talking about how much Georgia beat the shit outta Bama

As a UGA/UVA/Bears fan I’m thinking UGA sucked up all the good karma and left the other two teams with game-ending INTs.

how do folks who wanted CFP expansion (and further expansion beyond 12) reconcile that with what appears to be more teams who don’t make the playoff just not caring about playing any more games? I don’t ask this in a snarky way, I’m genuinely curious. is that okay, and just the price of the playoff?

No, the SEC just doesn't have a truckload of Purdues and Marylands and is a much harder league to make your way through right now. Especially for purposes of *this* argument, now that realignment bloat means no one is playing more than 1-2 of Indiana/Ohio State/Oregon

The SEC deserves favoritism because it's the best conference in college football by many miles. But you have to draw a line somewhere
this, and seeding them AHEAD of The U is insulting. the favoritism the SEC gets is ridiculous.
(on a plane and catching up)

Dropping BYU for yesterday but not Alabama is such a perfect chef's kiss on top of all of this. Honestly disgraceful, makes FSU's omission in 2023 look like a picnic

Notre Dame might join a conference one day but this is roughly the 945th time people have said some specific event will break the camel's back. I'll need to see it happen
Always follow the money. ND out means more $$$’s to the big conferences. ND needs to get into a conference…it’s a new era.
