Any agent worth their salt and aware of brand risk, would be like, this brand is getting super toxic, every interview, you will be asked about your stance on trans people, i think we can find something better

Exactly this + this is stuff appearing in national newspapers here in the UK as well. Don't even really need to be on social media to see how deranged JKR is at this point.- im kinda not convinced that arguement holds much water anymore

And that is the solace I have with this, our government wants some overbearing bloated digital ID system, and that is basically setting it up to fail right out of the gate

Absolute journalistic malpractice really isnt it.- like ive spent time in countries with digital ID in some variation, all of them are a light touch and very focused in their purpose.

One thing I learnt being in the IT industry in-house, is scope creep can kill and infrastructure project

Ultimately if as an actor, your agent isnt making you aware of how toxic this brand is becoming, they are doing a shit job as your agent. Like, Harry Potter is becoming the transphobia brand whether people want to admit it or not.

Like, if it wasnt obvious years ago, it is now.

This is a really important point; the HP brand is so tied to JKR, it ultimately is associated with her transphobia. + it contributes to her wealth and cultural capital keeping her relevant.

Questions will be asked about people's stance if they get involved.- I think its important to ask

I love the fact they go, look at Estonia (and when you look at the Estonian model for Digital ID, it is designed and functions in ways that are unintrusive and also doesn't include vast private sector involvement) - it is not all encompassing like the proposals the British Gov are considering.

The tories have slowly eaten themselves alive, like I'm not David Camerons biggest fan, but there was a time when you could look at them as a party and be like, I don't agree with you but I have a modicum of respect (I was a tory voter when Cameron was leader, and became more left wing over time)

Exactly this, inhalers are a great innovation helping with chronic illnesses and that is the least of our worry when it comes to ecological damage.- In some ways articles like this are peddling eco-fascism and eugenics (where the clear end point of this thinking is exterminationist).

People often think the arts isn't an economic driver, but it is a huge one. People want to support the arts in various ways, and our society is culturally richer for it.

This is such a cool scheme; like as a writer that sort of money, I would be able to like go and do some of the research I want without batting an eyelid. It would make me be able to work with editors and sort out the funding for it. To also see that it helped the economy.

This is an interesting point; I think the shift to relying on social media for marketing has meant a lot of marketing decisions revolve around that and capitalising on the authors presence and personality.- which puts newer authors without established audiences at a distinct disadvantage

In all seriousness, publishers are going to have to figure out how to market books in the post-social-media landscape. That should be an implicit part of their job. What authors/artists can do on their own is increasingly limited and siloed.

The as you said there is no way for any of these companies to make money.- they are operating at a massive loss relying on "AI is inevitable" apparently some VC firms are getting twitchy, they want their money or to see that an exit is on the horizon. Its going to be messy
