I say this as someone whose entire job is finding the narrow use cases in which AI is actually useful:
All the fear about AI, all the reluctance to adopt it, is entirely legitimate, and a product of the fact that it's been foisted on the public with no consideration of its negative externalities.

I continue to have no sympathy left for whinging about how the public are rude about AI and feel threatened by it when the biggest players in the AI space have spent years very vocally and constantly *threatening the public*

So, yesterday Eurovision made a decision to swap Spain, Ireland, Netherlands and Slovenia (and possibly Iceland and Belgium too) for one (1) Israel.
This begs the question, what next? I presume the EBU are hoping that they've taken a hit but now they can stem the bleeding. But can they?

Anything where you'd medically encouraged to eat biscuits is a winner
giving blood today, and obviously there are many positives but one that doesn’t get spoken about enough is that it’s one of the few times in life where you’re simply required to have a nice sit down

(Also, it winds me up, this eternal framing of tax as a raid on 'people who work hard'. Pretty much EVERYONE I KNOW fucking works hard. They are not all appropriately looked after by society.)

Honestly, it is possible to think 'I work hard to earn money; I deserve that money' and *also* 'it would be good if we created a more equal society: I'll help'. Exhausting to see everything presented as a fight to the death between those two ideas, seemingly forever.
