Day 30 of President Trump’s Federal Government Shutdown:

In response to the President’s illegal refusal to deploy emergency federal funding to keep food assistance running, I am declaring a State of Emergency.

We will surge $10 million to food banks and food bank partners across the state.

Missouri’s controversial GOP-backed gun law that banned local police from enforcing federal gun laws was rejected by SCOTUS.

The law imposed $50K fines for officers who enforced federal gun laws, including possession of firearms by some domestic violence offenders & weapons registration/tracking.
U.S. Supreme Court won't revive Missouri gun law that banned enforcement of federal rules

I can’t believe I’m watching interviews of city mayors talking about how they are coordinating with other mayors to discuss how to protect their residents FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

I know we are “used to it” but it is absolutely insane
Have the thoughts and prayers started yet for the mass shooting victims that were literally praying? #Michigan
Just sitting down to read the news that includes mass shootings at a Mormon church in MI and at a waterfront bar in NC. Still too soon to talk about gun reform? #ItsTheFuckingGuns
Kimmel hat 😀
Swalwell: There’s going to be a Democratic majority in just over a year. To the FCC chairperson and anyone in involved in these dirty deals: get a lawyer and save your records because you’re going to be in this room answering questions
You can hate insurance companies but I can’t understand why so many people here are supporting Luigi. Didn’t we just go through a week of “gun violence is wrong even if the person is horrible”??

A Black man and a homeless man were found hanging from trees in Mississippi yesterday, for those who haven’t seen yet because it’s barely made it out of local news.
I’ve passed lots of National Guard in DC but today was my first time seeing them with long guns. Can confirm I did not feel safer.

Earlier today, both Senate President Ferguson and Speaker Jones received bomb threats at their homes. Thankfully, these threats were deemed non-credible.
It happens to an average 125 Americans a day. Can we all be upset about this every day and not just when it’s in the news.
Do not share the video of the shooting. It will further traumatize gun violence survivors.

Liz Stein, a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse, gave some important and powerful advice to other survivors of abuse - tell someone, if they don't listen tell someone else, do not remain silent. Her courage is incredible.

I’m sure you’re all hearing the same thing I am.
Trump on Bowser: "She's gotta either allow it or we'll just do it. And she understands that."
They are not so much defending trans people as much as they are saying “we’re not going to let you take any guns off the street” but I’ll take it.
Oh my god, Trump actually got the NRA to come out to defend trans people owning a gun.
Emotional day on the Hill as survivors spoke publicly (some for the first time) about the abuse by Epstein & Maxwell. A large crowd then gathered for a press conference to introduce the Epstein Files Transparency Act. #BelieveSurvivors

I am honored to receive the endorsement of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in America. As mayor, I’ll continue to treat gun violence prevention like the life-saving issue it is.

Made it safely through the DC hellscape 🙄 to the Smithsonian Renwick Gallery. Great exhibit on state fair crafts including the butter cow, beautiful quilts and crop art portraits. Definitely check it out if you’re in town and make sure to stop for lunch or dinner to help out the restaurants.
