If you haven't watched the video abstract about Veronika the tool-using cow, you really should, especially the message from her owner at the end! It cleanses the timeline a bit.

I am having a really rough morning emotionally and would like more videos and pictures of your dogs - not just any dogs, but your dogs - in the snow.

In my ongoing attempts to give you a break from *gestures widely* THE HORRORS:

Let's talk about the utterly bizarre science of cats' purring.

Here's a weird starting point:
There are NO cats (Felidae) that can BOTH roar AND purr.

Cats that roar = genus Panthera
Cats that purr = genus Felis

Good morning! A very quick one this morning because it’s -12°C/10°F with a windchill of -23°C/-10°F. (My tripod snapped as I was setting up, so it’s a bit wobbly with my freezing hands.)

India's electrification shortcut! ⚡️🇮🇳

Solar, wind, batteries, electric vehicles...India's economy has different tools available than the US and China did at the same stage in their economic development.

The result? An early turn away from fossil molecules towards electrons.

Weave your small multiples into one map 🤯

“This is a much simpler way to visualize the travel modes than by moving the eye back and forth between the individual maps at the bottom. It also looks nice.”

I like how all annotation is on the left, making space for a larger geofaceted map on the right. The use of bold+arrow in the text designating the figure works great.
