The only reason they’re so infamous is because no one gets past them to see the even worse bullshit that’s coming like Rat Race.
Thing about Battletoads is that the Turbo Tunnel has achieved a certain level of cultural infamy for being impossible but if you play the game it’s maybe the fifth hardest stage

On the one hand, “skip the campaign entirely” is further proof they shouldn’t even bother, even they don’t really want you to play it. On the other hand, “fight giant robot” is objectively an upgrade by any metric.

Another random funny on Outlaws - your explosive weapon is dynamite, no surprise there. But interestingly lighting the dynamite is the alt-fire, and then throwing it is the primary. I assume this is so you can cook the throw, but it also means you can just huck unlit sticks of TNT at enemies.

it fascinates me how most everyone in the U.S. does turkey for Thanksgiving, but we are all over the map as to what we eat for Christmas (as is proper for a hugely diverse nation).
