Live in New Jersey and horrified by ICE’s shooting in Minneapolis today and their unlawful actions against immigrants EVERY day?
Join us in Trenton tomorrow (thurs) to advocate legally and peacefully for these 3 important bills.

N.J. is fighting back against Trump and ICE with 3 bold proposals
Democrats are pushing a package of bills that would keep state agencies from sharing people's immigration status and help bar ICE from schools and hospitals.

Without authorization from Congress, and with the vast majority of Americans opposed to military action, Trump just launched an unjustified, illegal strike on Venezuela.

He says we don’t have enough money for healthcare for Americans—but somehow we have unlimited funds for war??

Okay here’s an actual take: the fascist international is at war with the very concept of legitimacy.
Their messaging is so fucking incoherent. Maduro was an illegitimate leader who lost in 2024, which is why we're replacing him with his VP instead of the person who won in 2024. We did this to stop fentanyl, which is why he's indicted for cocaine.

We're also occupying Venezuela via Zoom call.

Universal health care? “Too expensive.”

Child care? “Unrealistic.”

Free buses? “No handouts.”

High speed rail? “Not doable.”

Student debt relief? “Irresponsible.”

‘Blind Into Caracas’
Less than 24 hours in, members of the Trump team are celebrating victory. None of them seem to have wondered what happens a day, a month, a decade from now.

Trump on why he pardoned notorious drug trafficker Juan Hernandez: “It was a Biden set up. Take any country you want. If someone sells drugs in that country, that doesn’t mean you arrest the president and put him in jail for the rest of his life.”

On Saturday, Trump focused on Maduro’s complicity in drug trafficking. But just a month ago, Trump pardoned Juan Orlando Hernández, the former president of Honduras, who was tried and convicted in a U.S. court of similar drug trafficking offenses. wapo.st/495KWuH
Opinion | Trump claims the U.S. will ‘run’ Venezuela. What’s the plan?
The raid to nab Maduro was brilliantly executed. The aftermath could get extremely messy.

I frequently criticize the Times on various fronts. With great size/power comes great responsibility. But it's always important to remember that really only they have the resources and capacity to put stuff like this together. These are like genome maps of the Trump corruption machine.

Not surprising that Trump repeats Putin’s unsupported claim that his home was struck. He has a history of restating foreign reports in conflict with US intel.

On Xmas day he boosted 79 foreign trolls, spreading lies & misinformation in the name of the U.S. Prez

Refusing to faithfully execute an important law that passed Congress with only a single no vote should be an uncontroversial basis for impeachment and removal.
Trump frustrated at never-ending Epstein saga, calls on DOJ to release names of only Dems connected to Epstein to “embarrass them” and suggests that despite legal requirement to release everything, DOJ should consider saying “no more.”

This is related to the idea that if white people don't have 100% of high-prestige jobs, awards, recognition etc it's evidence of discrimination against whiteness. It's where "great replacement" logic leads you. bsky.app/profile/donm...
I see this on the right - the idea that the existence of foreign academic staff and faculty are evidence of discrimination against natives. It's not discrimination, its selection: academia is a global marketplace, the US is the biggest center of that market. So yes, some foreign talent will win.
Striking nativist editorializing by the federal judge who just upheld the $100,000 tax on high-skill immigrants.

She opines that it’s “troubling” that universities hire talent from abroad at all, instead of only native grads.

Then admits (!) that opinion is irrelevant (So why write it? Venting?)
