Excellent thoughts on why U.S. Christians ought to be paying attention to what's happening with SNAP right now.
🚨THOUGHTS on Christians and SNAP🚨:
1. If you want the government to pass "biblical" laws on things like abortion, then why not on feeding the hungry?
2. The Bible is filled with laws about taking care of the poor. (2,000 verses or so.)

I don't understand how anyone can make the case that we still have constitutional government at this point. The president is collecting revenue *AND* spending money without Congressional authorization, refusing to spend money that Congress appropriated, disobeying whatever laws he feels like.

Graduate seminar did a deep dive on Thomas Paine’s Common Sense yesterday. At the line, “in America the law is king,” they (14 students from 6 countries) burst out laughing. I've been doing this for 35 years and this is the first time that was a laugh line.

I feel like a broken record, but I have to keep saying it over and over again: a farmer bailout won’t do much of anything because the market is gone. There will be no incentive to plant next year.

i do think there's something to be said for how American Christianity so easily reduces itself to the conservative culture war and nothing else
Like, Kirk considered himself a Christian and propagandized for Republican issues, but he was not a Christian evangelist! He was not a missionary or even an apologist for Christian theology. Yet his propagandizing for Trump is being seen as tantamount to a Christian witness.
