One day, and I hope I live to see it, there will be a reckoning for all the media figures who are currently working to misdirect public attention from some of the greatest moral outrages of our time.

Bless you, station announcer at Tottenham Court Road, for the perfect balance of professionalism and bone deep weariness in that line delivery

I'm on my way to a Chanukah event. It should be a celebration but instead our community is once again mourning.

I will be thinking of everyone in Australia and those around the world in the Jewish Community who know this fear and loss.

We stand with you.

Bridget Phillipson knew her history, was told by MPs not to appoint her, insisted on appointing her, and in her first interview the Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission has ignored super clear and explicit human rights law that trans people are not a third sex. What a disgrace.

The fact is no presenter has ever had to leave the BBC for expressing conservative views, or even explicitly endorsing a right-wing party.

It is incredibly sad that the BBC is a place for Robbie Gibb, Fiona Bruce and Laura Kuenssberg, and not Robin Ince.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Having to resign from a BBC science show after 16 years and 33 seasons, for not being a transphobe is where we are as a country.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 2876:
Don't write "a woman character", or "a gay character", or "a disabled character." Write a complete human being, with agency, and feelings, and flaws. No-one in fiction should be wholly defined by the groups they belong to.

The projects involve a very broad range of different landowners, large & small - yes, big estates like the Duchy & Lowther, but also loads of small & medium-scale farmers like in the Breckland Farmer Cluster:

This is all very well but 3 observations:

*It'll be Oct 2027 before all passenger services are renationalised
*Rolling stock remains in private hands, at huge cost to the taxpayer
*Rail freight should also be renationalised to secure full environmental & cost benefits.

A Soviet-era joke:

A man stops by a newstand every day, reads the front page of the paper, and walks on. One day the vendor asks "comrade, why do you do this?"
"I'm looking for an obituary."
"But the obituaries are on page 9," says the vendor.
"The one I'm looking for will be on the front page."

Trump says reporting on his health is "seditious, perhaps even treasonous, for The New York Times, and others, to consistently do FAKE reports in order to libel and demean 'THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.' They are true Enemies of the People, and we should do something about it."

Louder for people in the back: the court rules trans women are not prevented from using women's spaces. Also your weekly reminder from a business school professor that trans status is still a protected category under the Equalities Act (2010).
The kind of judgement the media could easily trumpet as "TRANS WOMEN ARE NOT PREVENTED FROM USING WOMEN'S SPACES, COURT RULES."

But instead they lead with the complainant (regarded by the Tribunal as an unreliable witness) winning some procedural issues against her employer.

Quite contrary to what anti-trans campaigners have been arguing FWS means - isn't it?
