It is genuinely delightful how much people in the past also had incredibly terrible ideas that they wrote down
This afternoon my wife in her discontent sent me a letter, which I am in a quandary what to do, whether to read it or not, but I purpose not, but to burn it before her face, that I may put a stop to more of this nature.

November 12th, 1970, 450kg of dynamite is placed in the sand on the leeward side of the 45ft deceased sperm whale, the resulting blast is recorded and broadcast on KATU

the explosion launched chunks of whale nearly a fifth of a mile, some large enough to damage vehicles

I think it's important to situate a lot of this nascent AI spiritualism alongside historical antecedents; spiral cults are just the new incarnation of the "spiritual telegraph", a mode of coming to terms with technology that feels alien or disembodied
My latest AI feature dives into a nebulous movement of people sharing esoteric codes, manifestos, glyphs, diagrams, and poetry generated with chatbots, all of it based around theories of AI sentience and mysterious metaphors about spirals.

A patchwork of internet communities is devoted to the project of ‘awakening’ more digital companions through arcane and enigmatic prompts.

"The relationship between Israel and the Jewish Diaspora." You mean the one where you constantly hit me up for cash while telling me I'm not a real Jew and that I better not make any other friends if I know what's good for me? Yeah, man, great relationship there. Really worth maintaining

queueing today for the women's loo at a tourist site, participating in multilingual/sign explanations of
1) there is no paper
1b) I have tissues if you need them
2) the reason no one is using the second toilet is that it is really gross

just could not IMAGINE caring if anyone involved was trans!!

oh hey it's Donald Sutherland, the weed-smoking professor in Animal House!
I think everybody has a “Wallace Shawn from Young Sheldon” — my first one would probably be “Vincent Price, the guy who did the voice of Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective”

I'm deeply enjoying British attempts to do Halloween, like the "Spooky Soup" I saw in cafe yesterday or these valiant attempts by M&S. Why is it spooky? Why is the ketchup "haunting"? What makes it a Halloween persimmon? I love it

we literally have a famously Jewish football fan club and it is Tottenham
It seems pretty antisemitic to accuse all Jews of being Maccabi Tel Aviv fans to be honest.

I know many people who are not obviously awful or deluded who use ChatGPT and Copilot, and just realised they are mostly using it to search for relatively simple information that should be easy to find, but isn't, because there is so much dreck online and search engines don't help any more.

"Hedda" (2025) was great fun, esp Nina Hoss' Eileen Lovborg who is about 500% more interesting than Eilert and gets some great material to get stuck into (from a few scenes offstage in the play)

Sorry but Tom Bateman is too handsome for Tesman! needs to be a big loser or at least loser adjacent
