Auch looking at you, @parlament.gv.at.

In authoritarian regimes, underlings signal loyalty to the ruler by publicly attesting to obviously false claims

Thread 🧵 ⬇️
Typically when the US embarks on an illegal or dubiously legal regime change we use noble words about democracy, rule of law, spreading freedom, etc. to justify our actions. Trump has not done that. He offers few noble words as eulogistic covering. It's a crass power & oil grab, according to Trump.

And now Maduro.

With FIVE TIMES more oil than Saddam and Gaddafi combined.

Actively selling in yuan.

Building payment systems outside dollar control.

Petitioning to join BRICS.

Partnered with China, Russia and Iran 10/

Email quote: "This gold was intended to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar."

2011: NATO bombs Libya. Gaddafi sodomised and murdered. Libya now has open slave markets.

"We came, we saw, he died!" Clinton laughed on camera.

The gold dinar died with him 9/

The WMDs were never found because they never existed.

2009: Gaddafi proposes a gold-backed African currency called the "gold dinar" for oil trade.

Hillary Clinton's own leaked emails confirmed this was the PRIMARY reason for intervention 8/

And there's a pattern of what happens to leaders who challenge it:

2000: Saddam Hussein announces Iraq will sell oil in euros instead of dollars.

2003: Iraq Invaded, regime change. Iraq's oil immediately switched back to dollars. Saddam was lynched 7/

Every country on Earth needs dollars to buy oil.

This lets America print unlimited money while other countries work for it.

It funds the military. The welfare state. The deficit spending. The petrodollar is more important to US hegemony than aircraft carriers 6/

They were petitioning to join BRICS.

They were building direct payment channels with China that bypass SWIFT entirely.

They were sitting on enough oil to fund de-dollarisation for decades.

Why does this matter? Because the entire US financial system is built on one thing, the petrodollar 4/

20% of the entire world's oil. But here's the part that matters:

Venezuela was actively selling that oil in Chinese yuan. Not dollars.

In 2018, Venezuela announced it would "free itself from the dollar."

They started accepting yuan, euros, rubles, anything BUT dollars for oil 3/

This is about the petrodollar system that has kept America the dominant economic power for 50 years.

And Venezuela just threatened to end it.

Here's what really just happened:

Venezuela has 303 billion barrels of proven oil reserves. The largest on Earth.
More than Saudi Arabia 2/

It’s sobering to look back on the run-up to the Iraq war—a period of unceasing chattering-class debate, elaborate official lies, media complicity, unavailing global protest, in the end a giant stitch-up—and have it seem like some sort of paradise of public deliberation compared to these gangsters.

These freaks want territorial expansion and they know Trump will do everything he can to deliver.

This isn’t just a tweet from some random asshole either. This is Stephen Miller’s wife. Miller was in the room with Trump during the kidnapping of Maduro.

Nobel Peace Price within reach, I’d say.
Q: China, Russia, and Iran have interests in Venezuela. How does this operation affect your relationships with them?

TRUMP: In terms of other countries that want oil, we're in the oil business. We're gonna sell it to them. We'll be selling oil.

Because international media largely seems to struggle to choose the correct wording to describe what’s happening: the US, under the self describes „peace president“, attacked another country and kidnapped its president. That is factual, no matter how bad or illegitimate Maduro‘s rule is (very bad).

And this morning, Trump illegally attacks Venezuela and abducts its president and his wife purportedly to try them for drug trafficking.

Weak. Very weak. Nothing short of a "let them cook" statement.

More than ever, we need a strong EU and esp. European Commission that stands up for its core values. This is not it.
I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela.

The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. (1/2)

Indem es jetzt sinngemäß heißt, „Die KI sagt XYZ“ oder „Die KI entschuldigt sich“ wird den Tech-Milliardären noch einfacher gemacht, keine Verantwortung zu übernehmen
This is a thread of major media outlets falsely anthropomorphising the "Grok" chatbot program and in doing so, actively and directly removing responsibility and accountability from individual people working at X who created a child pornography generator (Elon Musk, Nikita Bier etc)
