CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

Pourquoi des politiciens racontent-ils des menteries quand ils parlent d’immigration?

J’ai en recensé plusieurs.

They. Don't. Care.
We bought Article II of the United Nations Charter with the blood of a hundred million human beings, and less than a century later, it's being sold for nothing by people who don't even understand what they're doing.
i think this is what drives me nuts. people talk about how, say, the UN was founded by "starry eyed idealists" who didn't understand "reality." the truth is that the UN was founded by those who had just fought and *won* the bloodiest war in human history.

Someone must put a stop to the genocide of Confederate generals' statues.
6. Oh boy: "key components of cultural genocide included the mass distribution of intoxicants, re-education of children, forced relocations, and the destruction of important cultural symbols... “cultural genocide” would seem a fair description of what’s currently happening to white Americans."

It's astounding to me that, when you strip away the pretentious language, all of these guys' beliefs basically boil down to "We need an authoritarian government to stop poor and/or brown people from taking our stuff." Curtis Yarvin's the exact same way.

Yep. At its root, the reason we don't have investigative journalism is that we the people don't *want* investigative journalism.

There's also a reason populist strongmen are popular, and it's that people don't *want* the cantankerous, awkward, often obstreperous process of actual governance.
i think this is basically correct fwiw.
Times columnist @polgreen.bsky.social poses a familiar question, and arrives at a... let's say an unusual answer.

Why, she asks, has trust in the news media cratered? Because aggressive, probing journalism isn't really that popular. People resent it. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/14/o... [Gift link]

For decades, research showed that conservatives see the world as a more dangerous place. Our new research shows otherwise.

This is something the Nazis used to do to Jewish children in the camps. It happened to a man I knew when he was a child in Auschwitz. The camp guards thought it was funny as hell.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

Continuing to think these guys are stupid is a huge mistake.

They are not.
And any of the Jake Paul fights are great examples of how they wield power. They amass it, are too stupid and uncreative to do anything with it, and get their jaw broken because it was a fixed fight all along.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this happened partly because francophone Canadian journalists are still using Twitter like it's 2018.
Radio-Canada apologizes after it aired a photo circulated by anti-trans hate groups online, falsely claiming it was a photo of the Tumbler Ridge shooter. Damaging and irresponsible, and this apology raises more questions about journalistic process imho.
