They got caught. They’re backing down. But this isn’t over.

There needs to be a class action lawsuit.

Instacart admitted it was using AI to charge different people different prices for the exact same items. Algorithmic price gouging. That scam could cost a family of four $1,200 more a year.

North Carolina lawmakers have voted to remove all college campus voting sites. Specifically at the largest HBCU in the US NC A&T. They now have to walk 30 minutes to their nearest polling place. Students are protesting this - pls share and support.

Ghislaine Maxwell lied on her US citizenship application. She checked the no box when asked if she had ever procured anyone for prostitution.

She had been trafficking since 1994. This could get another 25 years added to her sentence.

Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

everything about this book is great, but the Wagner and Grimm Brothers chapters truly rewrote my brain chemistry. they strategically crafted new European myths and folklore specifically to bake antisemitism into them so it would seem like it was always there, in the Natural Order of Things
I've been reading Bernd Brunner's Extreme North (recommended by @clairewillett.bsky.social) and learning how people *made up the Nordic mythos* that got pushed so hard by Wagner, etc. It's weirdly unsettling, and I have something of the same reaction to learning how much of the right wing ...

“There are, of course, other reasons for studying the history of our discipline, and I would like to mention a few. First, history contains forgotten treasures. In some ways our ancestors knew more than we do.” — Mary Henle (1976, p. 18)

“It’s now beginning to look as if the 16th century view of the relation of logic and thinking is right. [If so,] we’ve been living with an error that has arisen because we tend to trace back the history of our problems seven years or so, not the required four hundred.”— (Mary Henle, 1976)
