Do we do intro tweets here?

Wait, what do we call them here?!

Do I say stuff so the algo knows what I dig?

Long covid/ME research and patient community, music/songwriting, museums, neurodivergent stuff, psychology stuff, 🌈 stuff, writing/art/creativity/pottery/etc., and kissing.

👋 Hi
nikkiegallant.bsky.social
And, from Canada’s treatment of Indigenous folks.

My dog has a few buttons so she can communicate with words, and one of the buttons says, “I love you.” I’m tickled pink when she pushes that one. (I’m not sure she means to push it, but I’ll take it, every time.)

It’s the same in Canada, without the insurers being in play, but cost is still definitely a factor. In the recommendations/guidelines, they cite incidental findings as the reasons for discouraging it. That and, making the patient worry needlessly which also feels inauthentic and secondary to cost.

“Hope is not a balm for the reality of pain, it is a witness to it.”

Hear, hear. 🙌

The hope never leaves. And, it’s not a cure. It’s there whether you’re improving, declining, or staying at the same baseline.

I’ve grown so weary of healthy people reminding sick people to have hope. How do they think we’ve survived it all, many of us alone? We are already far more resilient than they can understand. Hope is not a balm for the reality of pain, it is a witness to it. #pwME #LongCovid #chronicillness #MECFS
Screenshot of a tweet by Matthew @CrowsFault: People speak of hope as if it is this delicate, ephemeral thing made of whispers and spiders webs. It’s not. Hope has dirt on her face, blood on her knuckles, the grit of the cobblestones in her hair, and just spat out a tooth as she rises for another go. (Posted on March 10, 2022 at 2:21 PM.)

It seems it’s like pulling teeth to get MRIs ordered, or even other diagnostic imaging. I’ve heard they’re discouraged because of potential incidental findings. They don’t want to find more things that might warrant exploration. But, that leaves people without answers or effective treatments. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Every day is a new chance to become more ourselves. Maybe you can think of a tiny thing you could do today or tomorrow that would make you feel more like you.

Close by, though? In this neigh-bourhood?

🤭

That is weird. Hm. Bodies can be so strange. And, I feel like there are so many more medical mysteries than we’d like to think there are.

I’m playing a show tomorrow: The Craft of Song. With my pal Mike Dixon. At the North Bedeque Lil Red Schoolhouse hall. Part of their Love Local Live series. 3 pm. Masks welcome. Admission by donation.

Hashtag It’s going to be fun

Yeah, I would not expect that there at all. Weird! Summerside’s full of surprises

Ok I just google mapsed them, and there IS a 🍆 emoji in the window.. but like… there’s also a bunch of other imagery that seems unrelated..

Also, words on the sign, “and lots more…” doing some heavy lifting there
Storefront showing the eggplant emoji in neon lights. But also an alien in neon lights. And a moon with clouds in neon lights. Sign in front of storefront reads:

AUNTEA'S
Gifts
Make-up
Snacks
Books
Holiday's
Gift Wrapping
Shoes
Clothes
And lots more...

Ok, yeah, at least they said something.

Weird to have a whole article about MCAS without mentioning that Covid often causes it to flare… Great to see coverage on it, though!

A lot of people think the world can be made better by identifying the bad people and making them suffer in exactly the ways that we suffer. I understand that urge. It may bring some kind of catharsis. But we all need to understand that it doesn't actually *solve* anything.

I remember him, he was 🔥

Thanks. 🙏

If I told my doctor every weird sensation with this thing, though, she wouldn’t have time for any other patients that day. 😆 Plus there’s no approved treatment options. And, science barely understands the more debilitating symptoms it brings, so I’m not expecting much. Just curious.

Yeah, it definitely feels weird. It’s more uncomfortable than painful. This thing comes with so many sensations that we’d just never feel without it. Makes it so hard for others to understand, I think.
