Quite proud of this blog post I wrote two weeks ago about what I use instead of paying for streaming services 😁

I pay for exactly zero streaming services
This blog post is inspired by a post I made on Threads. It of course got only 4 likes and under 200 views because it probably wasn’t controversial enough or engaging enough. Anyway, this blog…

"Eventually” Ms. West said, “readers will not care.”

How much disdain must you have for your readers to say something like this and have your name attached?

It's like saying "hey little piggies, come get your romance slop"

I would never argue all self-publishing is bad, but I realized years ago that Amazon designed KDP for exactly this purpose: to incentivize people to adopt new tech to churn out more slop titles in a clear attack on the publishing industry with little regard for readers or even the writers themselves
“If I can generate a book in a day, and you need six months to write a book, who’s going to win the race?” God this is bleak

just building this awful camp system is a crime against humanity imo
The proposed centers are so large that some could house as many as 8,000 detainees at once, according to a DHS spreadsheet of more than 20 potential locations that was verified by NBC News. The largest federal prison in the U.S., for example, has roughly 4,000 inmates.
ICE plans to build mega warehouses for immigration detention spark growing concern
Sources at two government contractors told NBC News they were worried that new warehouses — and the large numbers of immigrants who would be housed in them — would present safety problems.

Bad Bunny isn't an immigrant.

This shit is cooked through. 150 years of being a newspaper and now you're a 4chan comment thread.
The Super Bowl halftime show, with Bad Bunny showcasing Latin music before a global television audience expected to top 100 million, will illustrate the nation’s immigration divide whether or not the reggaeton star delivers an explicit political message.
The enthusiasm — and scorn — surrounding Bad Bunny’s star turn at the Super Bowl

RESULT: Democrat Chasity Martinez wins a special election for a legislative seat in Louisiana, 62% to 38%.

This was a district that Trump carried by 13% last year, so a big overperformance by Dems, but the seat was already Dem-held.

Martinez won 63%–37%. Trump carried the district by 13 points in 2024.

Another major Democratic overperformance.

If you’re in the Epstein files, you should lose your job, your wife, and your comfy life. You should be castigated by society and spend your days in prison, being trotted out once a day so the public can boo you to your face.

Epstein took this photo at a 2015 dinner with Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk and emailed it to himself. Further review shows the same photo displayed on Epstein’s credenza. While much of the image on the credenza had previously been obscured, this email now makes clear what it shows.

Paid for by cuts to the social safety net for everyone else.

If you have a network with a decently large following, please consider adopting a Minneapolis family to pay their rent this month.

This is being done in a decentralized fashion because a lot of the groups getting $ are having their Venmo frozen and it's hard to send mutual aid.
tomorrow i would really like to challenge a few folks with larger followings than me to adopt a rent and raise it in one day.

my little group chat and my followers have paid like 70 families rents in the past four days. i believe that some of y’all could help us keep one family housed.
today's report:

our "adopt a rent" venmo campaign paid 43 families rents who were at risk of evictions, including several moms of 4+ children

this is the way to get rent paid fast. like. 1000x better than any other way.
