So excited this is back! Incredible series mixing breadth and depth, first one was like it was made in a lab for something I want.

Dredd is satire but it’s also kayfabe, if you were to pick up a random Prog it is not necessarily the case you would come away thinking “aha a satire on fascism”, you do not have to be a big 2000AD fan to realise there are a lot of people who just really like seeing Dredd do his thing
2000AD people getting mad at Judge Dredd being used in US DoJ recruitment ads is interesting. Dredd belongs to a huge swathe of popular media that I call 'having your cake and eating it'. The ostensible theme is satirizing fascism; the actual reason people read it is the drama and the megaviolence

Frog Fallaway Slam (saw someone say this was a German, needed to issue a correction)
It's mayhem at the amphibian enclosures. Check out our new exhibit, "Beware The Frogs Of War"

Look at any US news article about cyclists killed by cars. Unless it's on a cycling forum you'll invariably find many, if not most, comments are disparaging those who were killed or cyclists in general. It's culturally acceptable to wish for the deaths of people who cause traffic inconvenience.

Imo this is one of the most interesting areas of consideration for many action-adventure artists. The aesthetic ideology of *how* “woman” means “sexual object,” subject to subject
similar to Liefeld, actually - the stylization is so extreme that the attempt to draw cheesecake merely exudes a mannerist impulse. it just doesn’t translate to sincere eros.

Well not surprised but that new iO Bond game looks about what I grudgingly assumed it'd be. I'm sure I'll play it years and years from now but all their strengths and character are subsumed under the license crap. (Hitman forever, come on, just churn it out, I'll guzzle it up)

Even if you don't have kids, as long as you're not totally dead inside, this shit makes your blood boil. Imagine how both the child and the parent must feel.

There's no hope for this country unless the people responsible for all this abuse and torture are punished as a warning to future fascists.

Quite a run of ads, what I get for watching MTG stuff (I was taking a break from car work!). Racist battery commercial, "women are kinda crazy bitches, but if you stalk 'em you can get a little breathing room" ad for Zucky's hot or not, gambling app, finished with faith-based media network.

JK Rowling got a full *decade* of press as a martyr for being "cancelled" (declared passe by people online) and meanwhile nobody considers it very interesting that a prominent left wing author is basically banned from entering or publishing in the United Kingdom for her politics
so this is like, one of the biggest free speech infringements by a western democracy in our lifetimes right?

Every Black Friday I take the time to read what is perhaps my favorite piece in the history of online media— @jonbois.bsky.social on RadioShack’s slow, painful death.

A eulogy for RadioShack, the panicked and half-dead retail empire
This may very well be RadioShack’s final holiday season. Jon, a former employee, looks back on a strange, craven, five thousand-fingered strip-mall monster from a forgotten age.
