Hmm I don't know actually. I mean this wasn't really part of my own curriculum which focus on colonization mostly discussed the French showing up in what is now Canada (you know because that's the country I"m in). Europeans in general showing up and where wasn't consider super relevant I guess?

Yeah like its real creepy how often you encounter folks that ask you "who will take care of you?" when you mention your lack of interest in having kids. Like they see children as just some long haul investment into basically a slave they can use for when you're too old to wipe their own ass.

It's because for a lot of people the point of having kids is having a caretaker when you get old. Autistics have one of the highest unemployment rate even when you're "high functioning" and that means not moving out or getting a job either. Kids who can never become good workers are worthless.
