Tonight I watched Prime Minister Mark Carney take the actual Heated Rivalry Canada fleece from Hudson Williams, slip it on and say: “This is true soft power.”

fuck me sideways.
This was an argument for banning Will Stancil from the Minneapolis resistance movement.

I sort of let go of arguing that activists should try to do a good job and not a bad job because I got yelled at a lot, but I think brain rot around the plight of Palestinians is going to undo us.

Today’s news that separatists have been conspiring with U.S. officials to undermine Canada is deeply disturbing.

Smith emboldened separatists by cozying up to Trump, weakening our country at a fragile moment when we need to stand firmly against this.

Did not have Jason Kenney defending a LIBERAL Prime Minister while going full “yeah well your POTUS is a pedophile!” on my 2026 bingo card, and yet here we are.

Surreal.

I'm not joking when I say we should be kicking up a diplomatic shit fit about this, regardless of how futile it might be in practice.

Umm… hard NO to this.

Has this master of strategery learned nothing from Trump’s behaviour? No amount of appeasement nor pride swallowing will satisfy Trump. It just emboldens the next ask/demand.

thinking more about this, I'm also getting fairly uncomfortable at the fact that the same federal agencies have agents working out of some of our airports.
I dunno what information CBSA has access to, but I feel like it's high time we should be adding large swaths of employees of certain US federal agencies to block them from ever entering the country.

I don't give a fuck if it's mainly symbolic. in fact that's kinda the point.

Fellow Canadians on here, let's take some action to support the spirit of Shawn's thoughts below. One small, easy thing we can do is make donations to mutual aid groups. You can find a long list of local organizations in Minneapolis at the below link.

an important distinction (to me, anyway) is that this is different to the discourse a few days ago where some folks - me included - grumbled about the way some Americans interacted with non-Americans about what's going on.

people with a grudge against ordinary Americans can fuck right off.
Agreed. There are some ppl on this site (and just online more broadly) who just have a grudge against Americans and everything that happens is a way to indulge in that grudge in a maximal way. Thats their prerogative, ofc, but they can do that behind a block
It’s probably best to just block the Europeans and people from Anglosphere nations making snide comments about not differentiating between Americans who oppose the regime and ones who don’t.

They’re psychos and don’t deserve the attention they’re seeking.
