I highly recommend this author and novel (one is the North American cover, the other is the UK cover). It’s fantastic, excellent read, 🤖🐬🦿🇳🇬🇺🇸.

To the media, she was another statistic, another young victim of a dangerous social media challenge to garnish their articles and boost their clicks. It's like they were abusing her memory all over again.

"But she was already #relevant," I whisper as I lay flowers on her grave.

"When I was young, my teachers told me anything I wanted would be #achievable given how bright I was."
"And was it?"
"Hell no! Turns out you need to work hard, too."
"And...?"
"And I wasn't much interested in that. Sometimes, I wish they'd never had such high hopes in the first place."

I’m having that thing where you log on to social and everyone is reacting to the new thing but the reactions are vague, aghast, angry enough that you’re struggling to figure out exactly what the new thing is. German must have a word for this.

"We often rate our pain from 1 to 10. But the hurt I'm feeling now without a piece of my soul... It's not #measurable. I need to get it back."
"Is that possible?"
"Souls, like matter, cannot be created or destroyed. My piece is out there somewhere."
"I'll do whatever I can to help."

"For a Brew to Unweave Time, you must add these ingredients to the cauldron. Quill ready?"
"Yes, Professor!"
"Quartz, mantis molt, eye of a lost fish, lavender sprigs, and a cup of tea, cold and forgotten. Not intentionally cold: it must have been forgotten."
"That's oddly #specific."

What y'all need to understand is that "writing for the market" is flatly bonkers in traditional publishing, because "the market" when you start writing is not the same "market" that will be there when you finish the book, much less when they finally release it 2 years later.

Just write a good book.
