can the next big term that gets treated like 'abolish' and 'defund' where it's not the exact right term to use to beg for table scraps, be 'expropriation'

this word feels like it is crackling with electric power right about now

I found out today that one of the forces pushing Trump the hardest for this Greenland shit is… the owner of Estée Lauder.

Sharing this here because they own SO MANY makeup brands and I bet a lot of you might like to join me in not repurchasing anything from this makeup brand family!

OpenAI has absolutely zero ideas. They have no business. This is not a real business line and it’s so utterly vague and specious, I’m shocked at the credulousness to just print it without saying “there is no logical way this works of course” or talking about how the CFO of OpenAI is saying nonsense

it's so wild how hard it is to fire politicians who suck shit so badly and have so much of the electorate mad at them. i get people who hate newsom wanting to protect him from a bad faith recall but schumer's primary is so far away and more and more people are recognizing how he's worse than useless
I would be hard-pressed to name a more feckless, embarrassing political body in history than the Senate Democratic caucus. Just utterly useless in this moment.

Can the Senate Dems sound any more limp, facile and impotent to Europeans across the Atlantic?

Chuck Schumer has internalized the idea that Trump represents real America and he doesn't, so he feels the only way he can also get real America to support him is if he shepherds Trump through his own madness.

That is an appalling state of affairs for an opposition party.

Society parried the ozone layer, acid rain, and Y2K back to back and instead of going "wow, parrying is badass" a lot of people went "society didn't even get hit so I guess there's no need to learn how to parry" and instantly took a thousand hits
we live in a sick society that thinks preventing problems is a waste of time and effort and hey, guess why everything sucks now
January 18, 2026 at 4:18 PM
it's also fascinating how they don't have structural answers to anything else they report to be prioritizing. all you get is lip service that problems exist and "loan forgiveness to pell grant recipients who start a business that operates for three years in disadvantaged communities" type shit
ICE is seriously going to be Gaza all over again for Democrats isn’t it. They’re going to try it again, insisting if they just don’t talk about it then it’s not actually an issue that matters to millions of voters.
NEW: In this interview, Chuck Schumer describes the "five buckets" Dems think are key to their possibly winning a Senate majority in 2026: housing, "the high price of food [and] food monopolies playing a major role there," electricity, "the high cost of childcare," and health care.

sometimes you watch a situation unfold with the feeling of like "wow messy but there's nothing i have to say about this" and then you see something new and are simply forced to actually real-style lol out loud
*at the people debunking my obvious lie* aha! now YOU have also spread my lie! how irresponsible of you to let everyone know about my lie!

it's been a wild ride to still be processing the raw emotional power of t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶u̶l̶t̶ magfest as an experience and ongoing part of many of our lives and then have the news drop that this weird orb might be visible to a lot of people who will be on psychedelics
greetings, friend. have you been blessed with awareness of the new orb?

a truly bonkers level of physical control. also there's a really good eeriness to the choreography that fits this song really well (or maybe that's just me projecting about the weird baby sounds).
As you know, I've been a lifelong fan of the LSU dance team since earlier today.

This is why.

The National Science Foundation sign on our Eisenhower Av building is now gone.

The NSF mural in the foyer is removed and torn off in sheets.

We were supposed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the agency in May 2025. That never happened.

I have some bad news. One, if you need to use ChatGPT for your graduate application letter, you are not ready for graduate school.

Two, no, not "everyone is doing it" and those who don't do it aren't "losing out." ChatGPT is not an advantage.
An impressive number of graduate applications this year used the phrase “curiosity-driven approach” 🤔
