As a paleontology enthusiast I always find it funny how pop culture constantly describes large herbivorous dinosaurs as "gentle giants" when most of our current living herbivorous megafauna are some of the most physically dangerous and temperamental creatures on the planet.

Major racial and ethnic groups in Alabama also experience higher rates of poverty compared to poverty nationally. Among white residents, 11% live in poverty compared with 9% nationally. Among Black residents, one quarter live in poverty compared with 21% nationally. Among Latinx residents, one quarter live in poverty compared with 17% nationally, an 8-point variance.

We stopped using the school drop off and pickup line. We park away and walk in. School is lovely and the students are awesome but the parents are pieces of shit. One asshole was beeping at a kid who was in the crosswalk and then DROVE AROUND him and it was another parent dropping off their kid!

This handmade firefighter's coat, made of layers of cotton stitched securely together, is displayed inside-out to reveal a hawk soaring above turbulent waves. Worn during a fire with its undecorated exterior facing out, the coat was saturated with water to protect the firefighter from flames and debris. Rather than using water to put out fires, late 19th- and early 20th-century Japanese firefighters demolished structures near a fire to prevent it from spreading. After extinguishing a fire, the heroic men turned their coats to display the decorated insides.
The firefighter who chose this design for his coat valued the protective power of water as well as the hawk's strength and keen vision.
