Quite a few new people coming over in the last few days. Welcome, new followers! (And thank you to @mattsouva.bsky.social for putting me on his list!)

I'm a guitarist working in different modes: weekly ambient improv and short compositions, live solo improvisation, and improv with CMB Cold Spot.
Tonight, Monday January 19 from 8-9:30 PM EST (UTC-5), I'll perform my 294th #ambient #guitar #improv #livestream of the Monday series. Something shifted with last week. Where are we headed now? twitch.tv/onezeromusic

Most ridiculous concert story: I was a performer at an anarchist festival, doing a Morton-Feldman-inspired piece with metal-trio instrumentation. Just before going on, our promised 1/2-hour set was shortened to 15 minutes. At 12 minutes, we were asked to stop.
Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit doing electronic music/installation. It looked like he bought some super expensive equipment and just mashed buttons randomly for an hour.

What’s your most ridiculous concert story? Mine is that I saw a Phish show with the drummer from Hanson.

Some beautiful, understated terrain art here, also available as a free ebook!
I arrive here having finished a major, multi-month project: creating a posters in a hachure style reminiscent of centuries past. Have a look: terrainlines.etsy.com.

There's a free ebook, too! somethingaboutmaps.wordpress.com/2024/10/31/a...

If you could share them around, I would be grateful!

Your read of the day. So much out there about how ICE is marauding its way through Minneapolis but very little about grass roots resistance. Here I speak to a teacher on the front lines and he breaks down the *numbers* of people involved in resisting ICE. Chills.

Requiescat Matthew Taylor, bass player in Bellini/Monotrope, former art director at Touch and Go Records, entrepreneur, devoted husband, and just a fuckin' mensch
I worked with Matthew at Touch & Go and he designed the kranky logo. This is tearing me up - he had a humor and sparkle in his eyes that was unforgettable.
Matthew was my cousin-in-law. He was such a light — so funny, kind, creative and curious. He is missed.

Tonight, Monday January 12, from 8-9:30 PM EST (UTC-5), I'll perform my 293rd #ambient #guitar #improv #livestream of this series. Tonight feels like the right time for some #pedalSteel.

It's Morton Feldman's 100th, so I'll try to avoid too-loud and too-fast (for Feldman).

Hey you! Yes, you! 🫵
You're into this whole "making music" thing? You're a solo artist or you're in a band? Then this is for you!

It's not much and will not launch you into super-stardom, but here are three simple things you can do to get your music heard; all of it for free, no obligations!

This week's composition is an uptempo three- #guitar thing using the $60 Univox hollowbody...and no reverb. Things aren't completely dry, though--there's the space of the body itself, and it's in 6/4. weeklybeats.com/onezero/musi...

Like a lot of my recent output, this uses three tracks of the same guitar--in this case (unlike last week), it's an old Univox Coily hollowbody tuned in fifths and fourths, with a rogue second on top....
