They've got a decades long reputation for machines that just don't break down and they are relatively easy to repair. I use the one my grandma bought before I was even born. It's over 40 and the only thing I've done for it is regrease all the gears inside. There are, like, 4 and they're all metal.

These books are wonderful and I mean that in two ways.

1) they're excellent, I love Alex's writing and every second spent with these characters was worth it

2) actually inspiring wonder, cutting to the bone of what friendship and duty mean and how they can be the bonds that save the universe
