You're not the only one sitting there thinking "I can't sit at a table with these people even one more year."

There's a reason that divorce fillings spike around holidays. It is a time of "Enough. No more." For all kinds of people with all kinds of families.
I just want you to know that if this year is the final straw, if you're realizing now that you cannot spend the holidays with the same people again next year...

That's okay.

And you will be okay.

We got our electricity back around 10 last night so at least now I can bake something to take when we go to see friends later today 😁

Did you know I run a virtual and IRL Stationery Club? We've got nearly 1000 members on discord and regularly host meetups both virtually and IRL!

It's a pretty chill place to connect with those who love all things stationery. We'd love to welcome you!

Just making a modern bronze age collapse, no big deal.
You know what’s going to be incredibly hard for future researchers? The largely missing private & semi-private documents from 2000 onwards, as more & more & more of our written exchanges never get printed on paper & saved, on purpose or otherwise.
You know what we won't need once handwriting recognition software has done its thing? Archivists, curators, conservators, catalogers, codicologists, or paleographers. We won't need archives either. We won't need diplomatics, editorial theory, book or media history, or material culture studies 🗃️🧵

I am amazed at how childish his view of how people become wealthy is. "If you're good at what you do you earn more money."

DUDE. ARE YOU FOR SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?? I would be embarrassed on his behalf if I didn't have better things to do like watch dog shit cool on sidewalks.

took this stance real early on, have been paying close attention, and i have yet to see a single thing that manages to challenge that opinion even a little bit, rather than solidifying it into diamond-hard conviction
I'm an "A.i." abolitionist.

No consumer-facing LLMs or generative "A.i." in anything.

Sure, machine learning in science and a few other limited applications is fine.

But consumer-facing LLMs and generative "A.i." that are based on theft, push disinfo, and can be manipulated by billionaires?

No.

As you we head into gift-getting season, Black Friday right around the corner, please try to shop small where you can. It literally means the world to small business owners when you do so.

I have my great grandma's (lots of lard!), and my grandma's! Stained, clippings tucked in, and yes, a rubber band.
Family cookbooks, filled with handwritten notes, sometimes held together with rubber bands, tell the story of generations of homemakers. They are irreplaceable treasures.

🫠 the reason our electricity has been acting weird is because one of the connections in the meter box snapped. We're literally only getting half the electricity we're supposed to be getting. 120v appliances work ok but not the 240v - like the stove or the heating. Y'all. I need shit to calm down.

The US cattle herd gets larger & smaller on a pretty predictable 10-15 year cycle.

When there are more cows, that pushes cattle prices down.

When there are fewer cows, that pushes cattle prices up.

The laws of cattle supply & demand are simple & finite, any 4H girl would have known

Normally I don't go to Thanksgiving at home but my dad specifically asked us to come down and go through a bunch of my mom's things. That .. Well. That's one way to make the season bright, I guess. I hope I don't cry, it makes my head hurt like hell
