I provide a perspective on New Zealand politics. Read my manifesto with the following link... https://ralpheaston.wordpress.com/ This link is for Wordpress, a verifiably legitimate website. You can access the PDF without having to download it.

The Labour Party needs to drag itself out of the 1990s-2000s and recognize that competent management of the status quo is not what is needed. It will not win votes and it will not solve problems. Bold reform is what we need. Fundamental changes must be made.

Prisons are the only way to achieve that, wanting to modify prisons and wanting to abolish them are not the same thing
Some people are incredibly dangerous and need to be kept away from the public, it shouldn’t be about punishment or retribution and it doesn’t need to be
I don't see us reaching that point anytime soon. In order to abolish prisons you would need to have a society devoid of violent crime, I don't see that happening anytime soon, not with the appalling state of global politics.
It is very stupid rhetoric. Obviously if you call yourself a prison abolitionist people will think you want to abolish prisons. We have to take some responsibility and improve our rhetoric, otherwise the left will be in opposition for ever.
Luxon is massively weak, Winston could start hurling the most vile insults at him and he would do nothing.
That would be hilarious.

absolutely, Winston rolls Luxon because he's a moron, and then falls under the threshold in the resulting snap election due to his overconfidence. Who knows if it works out that way though.
Or more likely be the end of any minute shred of popularity he has.

NZ pol commentators SURELY can't keep doing this??
He will never be popular.

"this was the day that Christopher Luxon finally became Prime Minister"-ass take

No one likes him, he's useless and shitty, give him up as a bad job you dumb fucks #nzpol
Pretty farcical take to frame the tariffs as Luxon’s “first real crisis” when the wealth distribution crisis, the overwhelm and underfunding of support services including health, the consistent reporting on widening inequity and the cost of power/food are all waiting to be glanced at in passing 🤨🤔
So we should just never criticise our own side? That sounds healthy

Am oft befuddled by people who claim their actions/interests are "not political". As Grace Paley once said, politics is how we want people to be treated.
Imho, everything is political. Imho, to think otherwise is a position of privilege, if not wilful ignorance.
We need to take some responsibility and stop using such sloppy rhetoric, otherwise the left is done for.
They refer to themselves as a "prison abolitionist organization", that is what their website says, when you call yourself something you don't get to be surprised when people believe you. The misinterpretation is 100% their fault.
People speak about this kind of thing as though politics is trivial and meaningless, it is comical.

First episode of Locked Out with Craig Renney drops tomorrow morning on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube with a conversation around electricity prices.

Dis you know that there was a period last year when every dollar you paid for electricity had 92c profit for the provider?

Simeon gaslights NZ doctors, blaming them for the strike and telling doctors they didn't need to do this. Meanwhile National & ACT seek to silence doctors at the same time; offering a paycut while giving themselves 11% pay bumps for ruining the country and our public healthcare system
