There's a couple of days left in the campaign for #Overzealous! In this solo RPG you’re an outsider god hoping to bring your wisdom and benevolence into a new reality... but you’re a poor match for your bloodthirsty pack of overenthusiastic cultists.

Overzealous: Your cult has no chill!
A pen-and-paper solo RPG about some overenthusiastic cultists… and you, the god they’ll summon if they can just stay focused.

I like the idea of it being a diceless game and the entirety of gameplay is just this series of, essentially, keys and locks

"Pointing to prior work that has shown LLMs do not improve the clinical reasoning of physicians, the authors found that LLMs do not help the general public either."

Oh hey you don't say

I for one am staggered

If you abandon a post in the dark-limned gap between posting and the drafts, it goes off to live in the woods and comes back years later to exchange its firstborn child with yours
Is there a way to remove the "save draft" option from the menu when I cancel out of a post? I keep hitting it by accident and saving shit I don't want to save

From this weekend's game, rules answers for your pressing D&D questions: No, if you polymorph an efreeti into a worm, the Forge Cleric can't use their domain to sculpt a sealed steel lamp around it, because the object comes into existence in an unoccupied space. It's more humane just to banish it.

There is a certain aesthetic quality to the tabletop RPG experience not quite reproduced anywhere else
I actually don't think there's anything more beautiful than a group of dorks with varying flavors of neurodivergence pretending to be a group of equally varied little freaks who wander the countryside seeking adventure and justice for a few hours a week.

Pages from the ancient text known as The Book of Salvation.

If translated and read, its passages will be the only words the reader is capable of speaking for the rest of their lives.

TLDR #3: 'Web and digital for graphic designers' (Leonard et al., 2020) is a wide-ranging web design text. Packs plenty into one pedagogical paperback. Full of fun errors like "the Internet was used in WW2", "our closing paragraph is a bullet point", and "a quarter of our index entries are wrong".

TLDR #2: 'The complete color harmony' (Sutton, 2024) is verbose and somewhat airy-fairy, but full of ready-to-use colour palettes. The book is a primer on the use of colour in – crucially – advertisement, branding, and fashion. Great for that, of limited use for broader artistic understanding.

TLDR #1: 'Typography essentials' (Saltz, 2019) is a visual feast that covers the basics. It does misspell its own title in the introduction, and I almost completely lost my mind trying to read it as an ebook, but these are small matters in the scheme of things.

They all have typos and weird grammatical constructions on practically every page. It's really remarkable. Do authors not know that they can pick up 90% of basic errors just by reading their text out loud? Or idk, hire a copy editor?

Of the six graphic design primers I've read in the last couple of months, five of them were riddled with textual errors on the level of "we misspelled our own book title" and "this example doesn't demonstrate what we claim it does". Really stark contrast to their high production value visuals
